Partners

You will be paired with someone of the same genre of your book or reading interests. After I post the pairings you have two weeks to complete reading two of their chapters and writing a constructive comment on each one. These comments can be inline or one at the end but you need to comment. It cannot be done through private messages because I need to check everything. Specific deadlines and details will be outlined every time I post the pairing on the associated chapter and linked google spread sheet.

By reading their book and commenting on their chapters in the time frame you will obtain points and rank which will be discussed in more detail in the Points & Ranks chapter.

If you don't complete this task and don't tell me in advance that you will be unable to, you will be docked points and given a strike.

**Remember, you are allowed to leave the book club you just need to let me know and do so before the round starts

If I feel your comments are lacking in meaning and are non-constructive I will give you warning. Failure to reform your behavior or ask for help to improve your comments will result in point docking and a strike.

You are not required to add your partners book to your reading list or follow them. I will leave that up to you. I do encourage it because you never know who will return the favor.

     Groups

Groups

You will be placed in a group of 3-5 writers, including yourself, of the same genre. Groupings are done from the same genre because it will be easier for you guys to see where improvement for stories is needed. You (or someone else in the group) know the techniques, for example, of writing a good thriller, or the elements to build up a romance etc. I find that writing advice and critiquing people of the same genre can be done at a much more detailed level since you have experience.

This is where complications might arise depending on what genre you enter under. If there is not enough people in your genre you'll have to wait for group tasks. This will not affect your point system.

After you are grouped you'll have a month to complete reading one chapter of everyone's story in the group and leaving a constructive comment. Again these comments have to be public, not through pm.

If you are unable to complete the task during the month you're allowed a time extension to complete reading the books you were assigned; however you will not be added to a new group for next months grouping.

But what if I'm grouped with 4 other people? I have my partner reading of two chapters already, I can't complete all that reading!

I totally understand, thats why to start off with everyone will be paired with the minimum group of three and I will ask for your feedback on the conversation board and through a poll. If you can handle more reading then you will get put into bigger groups. When in a bigger group and you feel like you're struggling just let me know, I'll make the adjustments :)

Featured Book

This will be a "bonus" task.

Reading the featured book is not required, unless otherwise stated, but highly encouraged. Why? Well, if you read the book then you get more points and earn rank which will eventually get you to featured book of the month. (This is not the only thing you have to do to become featured.) Requirements for featured books are still to be determined and will have a detailed explanation in Points & Ranks chapter.

How will this work in the beginning of the club? Nobody has points so how can there be a featured book?

That is a problem that I have thought of a solution for, thats why the featured book is not required so it does no harm to you as a member if you don't read it. When the club is first starting out it will take some time for people to actual gain points to be considered a featured book for the month.
