"Hm. This slime drop tastes and feels weirdly like jello." I say to Lucile from across the table. She is having some of it too. "What on earth is jello?" She asks. Figures. "Never mind. Anyway, can I ask some questions about Origia?"
She nods, pulling another piece of the green slime-like substance off of the plate, and taking a bite. "Alright, so uh. How does your magic system work?" She looks like she just took a sour bite.
"I've never heard it be called that. But there really isn't a limit beyond having the right class, and not using your cast beyond your limit." Of course the magic system is stupid. I was hoping to at least delve into some elemental powers. But she mentioned class. There's a job system in this world, which means I have some kind of job.
But what is it? "Lucile. How do you develop and change your class?" She's finished her drop, and I've barely taken a bite. The monster equivalent of jello isn't exactly my favorite food... "At night you can find out what your class is. It can't really be changed, but you can unlock skills for it. But at your level, I doubt any of that is happening." I sigh, resting my head in my hand.
"Hey! You're only level two!" She shrugs. "My class doesn't have many skills anyway. I have a few cleric skills to my side but really the only unique ability I have is Conjuration." I'm going to assume that's her ability to summon things. I guess tonight I can find out what skills I have so I can actually start to have a basis on how to fight beyond flinging this dumb stick around.
I can't wait til I can replace this thing. Speaking of which... "Does your world have a currency?" She looks at me with that same old familiar dumbfounded look. "I beg your pardon?" I let go of another large sigh. "Do you have a way to pay for items here? Or even shops?"
"Oh! Yes, we do." She gets up with her plate, which reminds me to try to finish what I have of my drop. "We have two forms of payment. Gold pieces and the rarer of the two, Gems." Wait. So not only is your currency unoriginal as shit? But freaking gold is your lower currency?!
"Wait. Lucile, are these Gems really rare?" She nods simply, taking her plate to a sink, which is really throwing me off for this to be a fantasy world. Wait, who cares! There's a premium currency in this world?!
"Wait! I have to ask. Is there by any means some sort of place that you can buy items at random for these Gems?" She finally turned back around to me. "Wait. How did you know?" Holy shit, is this a mobile game? Wait, this would imply this is an MMO, which means there are other players, which means-
"Will you please finish your drop and stop staring at the table with equal action to a rock!" O-oh. "Uh, yeah. Sure." I guess I just gotta hope I'm wrong. I mean, I am the mold of an isekai protagonist so stereotypical I would fit perfectly into this world. Actually, scratch that. I'm not OP like one.
I suddenly hear her butt slam against her seat hard. I guess she wanted me to notice her sit back down. I take another bite of my weird jello, and swallow it down regretfully. "Um, Clay? Can I ask you questions about your world?"
The question makes me spit out my slime in shock. This has never happened in the anime I've seen. "Uh, um. Sure, what do you want to ask?" She takes a second, humming to herself and pretending to not be grossed out by what I just did but it's painfully obvious.
"What kind of magic can you learn in your world?" Well shit. Uh, I guess none really. I'm starting to remember how boring my own world is. "Um, you can't learn magic in my world." She smiles weirdly to my response.
"That must be great. Without magic people must be powerless in your world! It must be so peaceful and war-proof!" Oh, that's sad. Nope, not at all sister. "Well, not exactly." Her expression dims once again.
"So there is conflict in all worlds. Truly a terrible thought." I-I guess when you put that way you're right. "Yeah..." Things go quiet again, and I finally finish my drop.
"It seems to be sunset." She exclaims, looking out the window with orange light poring in. I am really tired, now that she mentions it. "Um, do you think I could go to bed for the night? I'm really tired after today." Not to mention I really need to find out my skills.
"Of course you can. But, uh... I only have one bed." O-oh. I can't help but picture her arms wrapped around me, with her glasses off and... other things off. Woah! Calm down, me! (Maybe I really am an isekai protagonist.)
"You can sleep on that hay bail over there." She shrugs, pointing to a bail in the corner of the room. That looks like a back itch waiting to happen. "Can I at least get a sheet or something to put over it?"
She nods, heading upstairs. I guess her bedroom is up there. I get up and place my plate in the sink, sighing in the silence. This is the first time I've been alone since I've been here.
It feels nice yet all too familiar. I like my alone time, but I also can't stand it sometimes... "I'm back." She comes down the stairs with a calm blue blanket in hand. She walks past me, placing it over the bail. It doesn't look comfortable, but so far nothing here has been but Lucile.
She's honestly the first person I've interacted with of the opposite sex since elementary school. Don't know what that says about me. "There you go, Clay. I hope it's good enough until we can get you back to your world. I'll be upstairs if you need me."
She walks past me and stops in front of some sort of coat hanger. Well, cloak hanger. (Insert laugh track.) "Okay. Thank you." She looks over to me, smiling and undoing the buckle of her cloak around her neck.
A large forest green and yellow fold withers to the ground before being gracefully caught by a white sleeve. The long cloak is then hung on the wall, and Lucile's surprising figure is revealed. Wait, this isn't a dating sim. What the hell am I saying?!
"You're welcome, Clay. Get some rest. You did well today." I nod a bit frantically, trying to not blush to what I see. "U-uh, um, yeah. You too. Goodnight." She smiles, letting out a small chuckle and heading upstairs.
I'm left to my own thoughts and tight pants. And then I realize that this is someone else's house, which means I can't do anything about it. Ffffffffuuuuuuuucccck!
