After recuperating myself and putting the Premium Gem in my pocket, I prepare further into the forest with slow heavy breaths. I was beginning to have depression spikes again, and it was hurting my chest.
Bringing those memories back, even in a rush, was painful. But the pro is that I've solved Light Slash, it seems. I just need to be emotionally unstable, great...
I go around a tree in my path, brushing my hand over its wood. In the distance something catches my eyes, and I squint to see it more sharply. It was a cabin, deep in the distance hiding behind many loose trees. I found her, it had to be.
I keep my eyes on the goal, and weave through the trees off the beaten path to reach it. I walk through shrubbery and barbs, but I try my best to remain quiet.
I was behind a tree within the cabins front yard, finally. There seemed to be no one in sight, but I prepared my sword anyway. Something just felt wrong, even if I can't see it.
Slowly, I step out into the front yard. It was dangerously quiet, and it effected my nerves. Maybe I should have taken a nap to apply my experience from that pink thing before. Little did I know, but I was already too late.
I try to take another step, but my foot doesn't move. I look down to find my shoes encased in ice! I look back up to a lady in a pointed hat looking back at me. "So hun, why are you here?" Damn it! I'm trapped! My foots jammed!
"I'm here to meet you, and find out some intel." I say, scowling slightly. But it was useless to resist now, my only hope is that she is somehow friendly.
She takes one powerful step forward, and moved her hand in a strange motion from one side of her body to the other. A strong gust comes through, and it forces my sword out of my hand and into a nearby tree! "Hey!"
"Calm down, honey. No weapons. For all I know, you're hunting me. Now, what do you have to ask?" She wore black lipstick, and her hips were in a curve, one leg strait while the other stretched out. Just like her legs, one of her arms hung restfully while the other rested on her hip.
"To be honest, I'm here because of that mirror that you gifted to the Dwarves." She looks surprised, putting her finger on her chin, long nail covering the middle of her lip. "Oh?" She wore a strange dress that cut off at her rather prominent cleavage. I couldn't help but think of the saucy witches from anime when I saw her.
"Yeah. It made a clone of me before I destroyed that mirror. But the clone escaped." Her expression dimmed, a loose part of her blue semi-short hair covering her eye as she tilts her head, the sun being blocked by her large witch hat. "Very well."
With a snap, the ice shatters around my feet, and she makes another move that brings my sword back into its sheath. If she is dangerous, it will be unfortunate. I'm clearly outclassed by her.
"Come on in, honey. This will take time to explain." She opens her door with that wind again, and then heads inside. How unnecessary! But I follow anyway. Within, the place is dark and there are many old books and strange purple candles around.
She points to a wooden chair near a table, and I take that seat. I notice a shelf with a pleasing helm on it and a potted plant. "Nice rack." She looks back, surprised but smirking devilishly. "Why thank you, honey." Wow, I really walked into that one. Fuck.
Well, I guess it's true. She has a chest large enough to feed a family of twenty. I bet her back hurts. "That's not quite what I meant, but okay..." She just winks and takes a seat beside me.
"Alright, hun. If you want answers then I have some questions for you, first." I simply nod, sighing. "Alright. First, your name. Then, your origins. And lastly, your age." "Clay Richardson. I'm not even from this world. And I'm fifteen." She taps her nails on the table with a stressed look.
"Damn. You're too young. Anyway, we are in an interesting situation." She looks at me, a tad stressed. "What is it?" She takes a deep breath.
"You have broken the laws of our reality. In Origia, the path of the world is set in an iron grip. A story with a terrible ending, set to repeat with every read." My confusion was only growing.
"Clay, my name is Ruby. Lore-holder of this world, and an abandoned plot device." What the fuck? "Your existence here can be a good or very bad thing. You have the power to manipulate the main plot of our deity if you can enter the main timeline of this world."
My head was beginning to hurt, and it was really hard to process anything that she was saying. "I don't understand." She presses a finger to my lip, and closes her eyes.
"Quite frankly, Clay. You being here is a mistake. But it could be a happy accident." Like my birth according to mom. "Our world is destined to an eternal cycle of destruction. All of us reincarnated every time the story ends. The ending is tragic, really." She looks at her nails lazily, letting go of my lips.
"What is the ending?" She looks at me with sharp eyes. "Well now, it is undetermined. You are the decider. That mirror was put there to make me servants to work on my home here, but that has backfired immensely. The main plot was destined to never break, but with two beings born of their own thoughts here, our lives will change forever."
I gulp, shocked at all of this destiny crap. I needed a moment to process everything but I got none. "Maybe the cycle will end with you, Clay. But maybe, it will end forever. Either way, our lives here cannot change. We are characters, written into a story by the supreme deity. But you, and now your clone, have the power to change the direction of the plot through your free will."
What? What is going on?! Am I inside some kind of novel or something?! "You have already changed my fate, Clay. By showing up, I have gained a new purpose. But I warn you, Clay. Letting that mirror take your identity was a grave mistake. You now have an opposition to your will. Things will not be easy."
Okay, seriously, what the hell is this? This strange world just took a strange one-eighty. "I-I don't get this, Ruby. It's so hard to understand, but is there anyway you can get rid of the clone?" She shakes her head slowly.
"Your clones name is Yalc. A spirit summoned from the mirror lives as an exact opposite to its original. It will be in direct opposition, and you will need to watch out." The thought of it makes me shake nervously. I had so many questions and no answers. Have I been transported into some kind of set RPG with that cartridge?
Before I could open my mouth, the door slams open with a mighty kick! I turn around to find... Lucile?! "Let Clay go, witch!" She points her staff at Ruby, and Grace stood determined behind her! "No, wait guys-" "Take him back."
I look back at Ruby with shocked eyes, and she just shrugs. I'm yanked out of my chair, and pulled to the entrance of the shack by Lucile. "I spare you witch, for making this easy!" "Yeah!" Echos Grace to Lucile's words.
"You couldn't do a thing to me, girl. But whatever. Just get out." Without another word Lucile does just that, slamming the door shut and dragging me by my shirt. "H-hey!" She ignores me, and keeps dragging me along toward Den Town once again.
