Danae Pov
November 24th,1994
We were currently on our way to meet Shauns mom for thanksgiving. I have extreme anxiety due to the fact that im actually meeting his mother
"Babe you okay" He said
"Yea just nervous" I said
"Aint nothing to be nervous about shes gonna love you" He said we walked outside and got in the car
"Turn the heat on" I said cus it was cold outside and in the car. He turned the heat on and pulled off
"I hope so cus the last mother I met she hated me" I said
"Thats ya ex mom not mine now call down and relax" he said
I tried to but the only thing that kept running thru my mind was is she gonna like me or what if she hates me
"Listen shes gonna love you so stop worrying theres nothing to worry about" He said
"Are your siblings gonna be there" I said
"Yup all 5 of them except my sister she goes to school in Spain so there she wont be able to come home till Christmas" He said
"Oh okay" I said laying my head against the window
35 mins later
We pulled up to this nice house in New Jersey. It wasnt to big and it wasnt to small it was just right.
"Come on" He said opening the door I grabbed his hand and we started walking
He opened the door and no one was in the living room so Im guessing everybody was in the kitchen
"Mom we here" He said
Everybody started walking up to us
She immediately hugged him then pulled away and looked at me
"You must be Danae Im Mom Laura" She said as I stuck my hand out
"Unt un we do hugs around here" She said pulling me in a hug
A girl came walking up to us she looked about 17
"Your Danae your even more pretty then he described Im Mya" She said
"Im Tristan" His brother said
"Im Nia" His other sister said
"And Im Ariana" The last sibling said
"And our sister Mila is away in college" Mya said
"How bout you guys take Danae upstairs while we stay down here" Mom Laura said
She was beautiful pretty brown skin and she smelled like vanilla
His sisters were the same I felt like I was at home the way they welcomed me in.
"So Danae how did you end up with a bum like our brother" Mya said
"He decided to stalk me at my job until I gave him my phone number" I said
"Were you live" Ariana said
"Well currently Im staying with him because of the problems I have with my mom" I said
"Oh you got one of those mothers huh" Nia said
"Yup" I said
"Nia was adopted right after Shaun was born" Mya said I could tell she was the gossip type
"But Im glad she adopted me cus I dont know where I would be" Nia said
We talked a little more and Mya invited me to work at her salon with Janell
"Can you show me to your bathroom" I said
Right down the hall before you get to the steps
I went to the bathroom then I started thinking like they really like me.
I washed my hands then came out but when I came out I heard his brother mention me
"So how did you get her cus baby is fine" He said
"Aye watch how you describe her but her vibe and our connection is what made me fall in love with her" Shaun said aww
"You aint never been in love do you think she the one" Some other guy said
"I know shes the one the first girl that ever made me feel special and show me genuine love besides momma" Shaun said
"Damn man you really in love"his brother said
"Yup and Im glad I am she really made me fall for her" Shaun said
"What you doing" Mya whispered
"Oh uh nothing" I said going back in the room
We decided to all exchange numbers so we can go out for a girls day one day
"Dinners Ready" Mom Laura yelled
We went downstairs and I sat next to Shaun and Ariana
"Okay whos gonna bless the food" Mom Laura said
"I will" Some older man said
"Thats the reverend his prayers are long so be prepared" Shaun whispered
"Heavenly father we come to you right now for you to bless this food and the people at this table. We just ask that you continue to wrap your arms around us and that we continue to cherish and love one another and that you just give us the strength to see another day" He said
"Amen" Some guy said about to eat but Mom Laura smacked his hand and we chuckled as the reverend went back to praying
"Lets get rid of all the devils bad spirits that are currently around us and that whatever is trying to stop us you give us the strength to go on cus no weapon formed against me shall prosper" He said
5 mins later
"Lets just continue to be here for each other cus only you know when our last day is thank you in jesus name amen" He said finally ending the prayer
"That was a lovely prayer reverend" Mom Laura said
"So son are you gonna introduce us" Some older guy said
"Danae this is Uncle Charles, Grandpa Wilbert, Grandma Wilona, Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Patrice, Aunt Leana, and tha- Heyyyy" He got cut off by some older lady coming in
"Here we go again" Mom Laura said
"And that is Aunt Laretha Momma dont like her ever since she slept with Momma ex husband" Ariana whispered
"Sorry Im late had to pick up my keys to my new beamer" Laretha said
"Shouldve been picking up a new wig" Mom Laura said as me and Ariana started laughing
"What was said Laura" Laretha said
"Oh I said Glad you could make it" Mom Laura said
"Umm everybody have a seat" Aunt Patrice said
Everybody sat down and started eating
"I couldnt seem to find such a small neighborhood" Aunt Laretha said
"You couldnt seem to find your own man either but that didnt stop you now did it" Mom Laura said
"Its finna go down" Mya mouthed to me
"Excuse me but I wasnt the one who caused him to go looking for love" Laretha said
"Everybody watch ya husband's cus she might be sleeping with him too didnt you sleep wit Louis in high school" Mom Laura said as Im guessing Louis cleared his throat
"Ive been nothing but nice to you and your treating me like some hoe on the street" Laretha said
"But arent you some hoe on the street whos rich millionaire husband you sleeping with today" Mom Laura said
"You know what Laura I dont have to take this" Laretha said getting up
"Yes you do and your gonna sit here and listen" Grandma said
"Ever since you were little youve been running away from stuff just like you ran away from your child at 14 years old" Mom Laura said
"Laura" Patrice said
"Patrice shut up you been up her ass ever since we were kids" Laura said
"She aint lying" Leana said taking a sip of her drink
"Now Laretha you been acting like you aint come from the same hood as us we all grew up in the projects lets not forget you got pregnant by James at 14 and he was 18 aborted the baby then had the nerve to have another one at 16 who died at 6 months due to shaken baby syndrome was looking for you and you werent there didnt even show up to her funeral" Laura said
"Wasnt you the one that was prostituting while your baby was laying on its death bed" She continued
I thought my family had drama but this is beyond me.
Everybody stayed quiet until Shaun came back in the kitchen with 3 plates. I aint even notice he left
"Ima go" Laretha said as Patrice followed behind her
"Bitch" Laura mumbled taking a seat
"Ummm we gonna head out" Shaun said
We gave everybody hugs and then left
"So uh wow" I said getting in the car
"Sorry you had to see that" He said
"Its fine im used to it" I said
"You still coming to my dad's anniversary party" I said
"Is your family like ours" He said
"No worse" I said joking
"Not going" He said
"Babe Im just playing plus I dont even wanna stay that long" I said
"Ight Im going shorty calm down" He said as we pulled up in front of the apartment building
We went inside and I put the food in the fridge
I did my night routine and by the time I came out the bathroom he was sleep
I stayed up and watch a few episodes of Full House then went to sleep
