Born, raised, then reborn again, Serena Shepherd has lived in Seattle her entire life. She has hardly ever left the city and refers to it as home.
When a vampire kills Serena's father, she no longer calls it home. In a heated desire for revenge, Se...
After confessing what Serena knew about Riley to the Cullen family, she hit the high road back to Seattle before her prolonged absence became suspicious. The woman felt like she was leading two different lives with the constant lying she was doing in Seattle and the running back and forth between two cities. It was starting to become exhausting and if it had to continue, Serena might take Rosalie's advice and kill Victoria herself.
Riley and Victoria had moved their party indoors by the sounds of yelling and crashing coming from the inside of an abandoned cannery. Serena pried open one of the doors and slammed it behind her, catching the attention of nearly every vampire in the building.
"Where is Victoria?" The woman shouted with her top lip slightly raised in a snarl.
"She's not here." Riley declared as he rose to his feet and started walking forwards. He had been previously crouched in front of a girl with dark hair who looked no older than sixteen. Her entire body rattled with fear while her eyes gleamed a shade of a ruby. The sight of the young girl made Serena briefly glance away, her stomach churning with grief. She was too young to be involved in a fight so severe.
"Well where is she?" Serena's voice was full of attitude as she swallowed thickly, ignoring the girl sitting on the ground behind Riley.
"How should I know? She comes and goes." Riley said with a shrug as he looked away from Serena. He looked utterly bored with the discussion the pair was having and the sly smirk on his face made Serena want to rip his head off.
"When you see her, let her know I'm looking for her." Serena advised through gritted teeth as she turned to walk away. The dark haired woman left the abandoned building and sighed heavily as soon as the door was shut behind her. Her head rested against the aged wood while she stared up at the star filled sky. Serena had no idea what time in the night it was or even what day of the week it was. With immortality came losing track of time and since Serena figured she was going to live forever, she didn't bother to count the days.
"Nice seeing you here." The familiar tone of Victoria's honey-sweet voice caused Serena to snap her eyes open and tilt her head forwards off of the door.
"Victoria. I need to speak with you." Serena declared with a stern expression on her features.
"About what? Could you move?" Victoria asked in an unamused tone as she walked forwards and reached towards the doorknob of the cannery that Serena's hand was resting right beside.
Serena got out of her way and stood behind her as she spoke. "The Cullens."
Victoria froze in place for a brief moment before looking over her shoulder, her thick head of hair concealing a portion of her face.
"The Cullens?" The redhead repeated as she turned around to face Serena. Her face was illuminated by dimly lit lights nearby the building and Serena could tell that she had her eyebrows raised in interest.
"I went to Forks to keep an eye on them. They suspect that there is an attack being planned against them." Serena explained, failing to mention she was the one that told the Cullens an attack was being planned.
"Do they know about the newborns?" Victoria asked with a soft frown forming on her thin lips.
"They just know something in Seattle is on a killing spree. It's been on their news. But I think they're assuming it's just you." The dark haired vampire replied as Victoria turned back around to face the door.
"It is me." Victoria said with a short laugh before opening the door of the cannery and walking inside. "Riley!" The vampire yelled out, catching the attention of the blonde male who was in the middle of pulling two newborns apart who were trying to kill each other.
"Looks like you found her yourself." Riley stated at Serena as he walked over to the two women.
"The Cullens know about our plan." Victoria said in a low tone. The smirk that seemed to permanently reside on Riley's lips slowly faltered as he glanced between Victoria and Serena. The dark haired woman kept her face as neutral as possible as she became worried that Riley would come to his senses and figure out Serena was betraying them.
"So what do we do?" Riley asked with constant screams filling the background. The newborns were on the verge of wiping Seattle off the map if they continued to be uncontrolled.
"We take a trip to Forks, obviously." Victoria replied with a smug look on her face as she leaned towards Riley. Serena grimaced in repulsion and walked away as the pair began to share an intimate moment between their lips, ignoring that Serena had been standing there just a second ago.
The raven haired woman walked over to the girl with a matching hair colour that sat with her knees pulled to her chest, whimpering and trembling as she gripped at her throat. Serena crouched down in front of the girl who rapidly glanced back and forth between the woman in front of her and the other newborns that seemed to be out of control.
"What happened to me? Where am I?" The girl managed to say in a coarse voice as she stared at Serena with her eyebrows turned upwards and her mouth hanging open in a heavy pant. Serena ignored her question as she squinted her eyes slightly at the girl. She looked so familiar but the older vampire couldn't figure out how she knew her.
"What's your name?"
The girl was hesitant to reply and Serena didn't blame her. Red eyes stayed locked on each other before a soft "Bree" was mumbled.
"I'm Serena." The woman rose to her feet and stretched out her hand towards Bree who just stared at the pale skin like she had never seen a hand before. "I'm not going to hurt you." Serena mumbled. Bree looked up at her before taking her hand and slowly stood up.
"Thanks." Bree said without taking her eyes off Serena as she let go of her hand.
"Serena, get over here!" Riley shouted and the woman glanced over her shoulder at the sound of her name. The newborns had formed a huddle around Riley and Victoria as the blonde man started passing a dark red blouse around, every vampire taking a deep inhale. Serena knew from across the room that the blouse had Bella's scent on it, a mixture of vanilla and rain reaching her nose.
Riley and Victoria watched with smug grins as their army passed the scent around, preparing for a battle that none of them signed up for but all were ready for. Little did any of them know, a certain vampire in Forks was having visions of the exact events taking place and was also preparing her family for the battle.
