"It's really not that bad, come on." The nurse says to me, and I reluctantly follow.
As we enter the actual place, we go down a hallway with large doors on the sides. We exit the hallway and see the front desk, then a recreation type spot. There's some boys playing a board game, some other boys watching T.V. and loudly arguing about something. But one boy in particular catches my eye.
He's sitting apart from everyone else, looking out the window. He's perched on the large plastic chair in a crouching position. There's a book, left open and neglected. It's obvious the book has seen a few reads, it's condition slowly deteriorating. The boy has almost shoulder length black hair and tan skin. He's wearing blue scrubs. I can't see anything else, as he's facing away from me.
The nurse leads me out of the boy's side of the floor and takes me to the girl's side. From there, we go to the nurse's office type thing.
Once everyone we needed there was there, the nurse started talking.
"Okay, I'm gonna need you to strip down for me." She says as she takes off the handcuffs on my wrists. I rub my wrists and scowl.
"Like hell am I doing that." I say.
"Listen, I'm sure you don't want to be restrained on your first day, but if you keep up the behaviour you had downstairs, we're gonna have to."
"Jokes on you, I've already been restrained." I stick out my tongue at her.
"Great, so you know what it feels like. Let's just get this over with and you can go to the boy's side, get to know the people you'll be with for the next two weeks, and like that. Just cooperate."
I snarl at her, but do what she says. I strip down my underwear. The nurse searches me (for what, I don't know), then hands me some red scrubs. I immediately change into them.
"Thank you. Koko will lead you out." The nurse opens the door and there stands Koko, a security guard. She leads to the boy's side and just leaves me there.
As I walk to where everyone else is, all the boys ignore me. So, I go sit down across from the boy I saw earlier. I finally get a good look at him.
He has red eyes, the same colour as mine, and a scar above his right eye. His expression is emotionless, but I feel like I can see a hint of calmness in his eyes.
Not gonna lie, he's pretty cute. No, I take that back. He is cute. He is pretty, too, though.
"So, whatcha readin'?" I ask him. He looks towards me. His poker face is incredible.
"Don't try to be nice to me. This is my 6th time here, I don't need pity."
"6th?!" I ask, bewildered. "People can come here 6 times?"
"Yeah. My parents are actually trying to send me to a residential after this." He looks away from me. "Anyway, just leave me alone."
I do what the kid says, deciding I don't want to deal with his attitude. I look toward the T.V. and start watching whatever the nurses have on.
