in which they meet, 2 years before it happens

the first time alex saw jack was during lunch break, 2 days into his freshman year ; it was an encounter that'd he always look back on.

he reminicised ,almost lovingly, about it.
he saw the pins on jack's bag, promoting some of his favorite bands which lured alex into wanting to ask,

"what's your favorite blink album?"

it felt like epiphany for him, after the several years of his middle school 'friends' not having anything in common with him, he was about to know someone who did.

but alas, alex didn't ask. social anxiety's a bitch, huh?

despite that, alex was still hopeful that he'd get another chance at talking to the slightly taller boy, maybe he even was in some of his classes? he thought to himself, feeling as if he was on a slight high as he trudged back to sit with the 2  kids he knew from middle school.
