Y/N POV
Leaf was acting kind of weird earlier.
But I guess that wasn't too unusual.
Oh well, we have bigger things to focus on now!

I sighed in and grabbed my number, slinging it around my neck.
I sat down on the bleachers parallel to the teacher's table and folded my hands in my lap, looking around. There was a lot of people in the audience. It made me kind of nervous.

What if they laugh at me?
What if I can't spell a simple word right and I get embarrassed?
What if-
There's a tap on my shoulder.
I jolt away, and look up to see...
Leaf!

"Hey!" I say, and yank him down on the bleachers. He smiled.
"H-hi Y/N." He put his helmet under the bleachers and pointed to the first row in the audience.
"That's my whole family there. There's Raisin, Paul, Brooke, Landscape, Pinecone, and Marigold. They all came to see me!"
He giggled.

I smiled and put a hand on his arm.
"That's great Leaf! They must be really proud."
He cleared his throat.
"Well... they think I'm going to loose but... where's your family?" He asked looking around.

Well... I didn't know.
I think my dad was probably here.
I hoped.
"Um... he's... out there!" I said laughing.
Leaf frowned, but before he could say anything Ms.Rona started speaking.

Leaf's POV
I think the woman at the desk started talking but I couldn't hear her. I watched Y/N's face, and she looked so pretty. Her eyes were-
"Y/N L/N."

She turned to me and smiled, patting my leg and standing up.
My eyes lingered on the spot she touched my leg. I felt a heat rise up to my cheeks, and placed my hand there, fiddling with my hair.

"E-x-e-m-p-l-a-r-y. Exemplary." She nodded.
She walked back to the bleachers and sat next to me smiling.
"That was really good." I smiled.
She shrugged. "It was an easy word."
"I didn't know it."
"Leaf Coneybear." Came over the speakers.

I took a deep breath, and tried to stand up but I was really shaky. Y/N put a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
"It's okay Leaf. You'll do great." She said.
It did not calm my nerves.

I walked to the microphone and waved.
"Hi. I'm Leaf." I said.
"Mr.Coneybear your word is Acouchi." He said.
I giggled.
Is that even appropriate?
"A-What?" I laughed.
"Please listen to the whole word. Acouchi."

"I'm going to be honest... I don't really know that word, and I don't know how to spell it."
I scratched my head.
"Would you like to forfeit your turn?" He asked.

I turned around and looked at Y/N. She was smiling. "Give it your best shot." She said.
I gulped and nodded.
"I... I'm not that smart." I explained.
I tried to tell them, I'm not too smart, and I don't have a very nice family, but I got a little distracted like usual.

"I forgot the word." I ducked my head.
"Oh my god, Acouchi!" He yelled.
"Oh yeah! Acouchi, it's the rodent resembling the, Hey there's my family in the bottom row! I can't really focus cause there's this girl I really like- A! C! O! U! C! H! I!"
My head zoned out and I saw this weird light. Suddenly I knew all the letters.

"That is correct."
I froze. Really? I got it right?
I was so happy!
I slipped back over to the bleachers and plopped down.
"Hey Leaf! That was great!" Y/N whispered.
She wrapped her arms around me and I turned beet red.

"T-thanks. I like you." I blurted.
She tensed up.
"You what?"
Did I just say that?
"I like-like you." I blurted again.
She pulled away and stared at me, pink in the face.
"You-"
"Y/N L/N."

Shoot.
She made her way to the mic. and stood there.
"Your word is... Vug."
She didn't even acknowledge him.
"I... you... Ohhhhh I see." She smiled looking back at me.
The bell dinged.
"I'm sorry the correct spelling is V-u-g."
She stared frowning.
"No I wasn't spelling the word is was-"
"Life is pandemonium." Mitch handed her a juice box.

She looked so mad, so ashamed, and she stormed off stage, gripping her juice box hard enough to crush it. Juice went spraying out and she threw it.

Uh oh.
