Her Apology

"I'm sorry." She says, looking at me once again. She then grabs my hand softly, closing her eyes again and humming softly. She leans against me lightly and stays like that for awhile, before opening her eyes and looking at me. "I'm worried about her ... "

"About who .. ?" I ask her lightly, looking down at her.

"Katelyn ... " She says, her voice going down to a whisper. I've honestly never seen her like this. Silent and soft. I'm used to her being violent and harsh.

"Why .. ?" I ask, slightly confused. She has never, ever even been slightly concerned or sympathetic towards any of her hosts, she just seems to use their body to have her physical needs, as her own body has now died. And honestly, she seemed to not even care about her closest friends, let alone some stranger in her direct bloodline.

"She's ... she's the last one ... " She says, before going completely silent and just staring at the floor. She puts her head on my shoulder and doesn't say anything more.

We sit in silence for awhile, both of us looking at the sunset as it sets, still in silence. She shifts slightly and takes my hand lightly. She then lets go and falls back onto the stone, closing her eyes and her breathing slows as she relaxes. I watch as she starts to meditate and her aura turns a pale green, the colour of relaxing. I smile softly before closing my own eyes, and I try to relax. Eventually I do. We stay like this for awhile and when the night falls, I feel Menphia's aura shift to a murky grey-red colour, showing me that she was alarmed by something. But she stays laying down.

"Menphia ..?" I ask, looking at her aura, tilting my head lightly.

"Yeah .. ?" She says, her voice sleepy but confident.

"You want to go back? I feel like the two will have been finished talking by now." I look down at her as I climb off the stone table. She nods and sits up, facing me and smiling lightly. She climbs down and stands beside me. I smile at her and we start making our way down the mountain near the coast, and I watch the wind flow down the beach. Eventually, I decide to teleport us back to the library, so I do.

When we arrive, the lights are dimmed and I watched as Menphia flopped onto the bed, closing her eyes. I briefly hover my hand over her, summoning her relic from her and she winces, it hurts having your relic being taken from your physical part of you. It's a part of you as much as your organs are. I try to ignore it. I place her relic down on my desk and I realise that he relic has gone slightly dim, meaning that Katelyn is resting. Now ... that must mean that Travis is either back in mine and I didn't notice or he's still with Katelyn. But I guess I'll leave it. They are friends.

~Travis' POV~

I sit in the corner of the room that Katelyn conjured up in the relic. It's eerily like the one I made for her in the library. It has a double bed with pale blue bedding, with a dark blue throw on it. Across from that is a painting, of what seems to be Katelyn and her family. It's kind of nice to see, knowing that she's still a real person. I skim my eyes over where she's sleeping. She turns over restlessly and I realise that she's probably having a nightmare. It happens the first time you get the relic. She now has Menphia's memories, and I have no doubt that most of them are pretty messed up. I smile lightly and stand up, kneeling beside her and whispering a quick spell that'll calm her down. I then walk conjure up a blanket and I lay back down, falling asleep.

~Katelyn's POV~ (!SLIGHT GORE/TRIGGER WARNING!)

Fast breathing. Heavy footsteps fall behind me as I run blindly through the dark. This isn't my body, and I cant control it. I'm trapped inside. More footsteps join the monsters, and she runs blindly. But I can't get away from him ... I can't get away from this horrid feeling of darkness. Something grabs my- no ... her - back and pulls her against it. It drags her down endless dark corridors, and then hooks her up on a wall. I feel it tearing at her back, ripping her skin and blood cascades down her back, dripping on the floor. Maniac laughing tears through the darkness. It's his voice. It swirls around my body, and I feel his sword being placed against my shoulder. It cuts deep into and I refuse to let my scream fill the room. He presses deeper into my shoulder and I scream, blood pouring down. And before I know who happens, I can see what happens next, I sit up in the relic, screaming, tears streaming down my face.

I sit up, and turn on the light, hugging my knees. I stand up, and realise then I'm stuck in the relic. I sigh and I hug my knees, wanting out. I huff and then I turn around to look around the room, and I see Travis sleeping on the floor. I smile softly and lift him up -  well ... more like half lifting, half dragging - and taking him onto the bed. I lay him down, pulling the blanket over him. I sit down on a sofa in the corner of the room and I start reading. I don't really have any sense of time, so I can't say how long I waited for him to wake up. But he eventually did.

"Katelyn .. ?" Comes a tiny voice from the bed. I look up and smile lightly.

"Yeah?" I say, standing up and walking over. I sit next to him and I smile.

"Why am I ... in the bed. Did you manage to lift me over here?" He says, and I can almost hear his smile.

"Yeah. I managed to."

"Wow." He says, smiling lightly. He then sits up and smiles at me.

"I have to leave."
