Chapter 9

Chapter 9
"Time to kill."
Thea says as she opens her eyes. She gets out of bed, changes her clothes, puts her boots on, washes her face, brushes her teeth, puts her hair up in a ponytail and walks out of her house to Damien.
"Let's do this boy."
Thea says as she rubbed his head and climbs onto his back. Damien then flies up toward the sky. Many dark clouds were coming in.
"Hey boy let's do a perimeter check just in case."
Damien makes a left and flies in a big circle around the town. Thea doesn't see any unusual characters, so the coast was clear for now. Damien lands in the front of the wolves' house. Thea gets off Damien. Every wolf was in the front yard. Ann and Cody were there too.
"Are you wolves ready? The clouds are coming in fast."
Thea asked.
"We are ready."
Axl said looking at the alphas.
"Ann are you ready to go to the basement with Cody and the other wolves?"
Thomas asked.
"Yes."
Ann said. Then her and Cody started to walk toward the basement with the younger wolves and three older wolves for protection. Thomas follows behind them so he can lock the basement up. Thea also follows them so she can put the barrier spell surrounding the door. Ann, Cody and the others start to walk down the stairs into the basement. Thomas and Thea stay outside. Cody then runs up the stairs to hug Thea really tight.
"Cody are you okay?"
Thea asked. As she hugged him, she had a vision of Cody looking at something and then falling to his knees and crying. The vision then went away.
"I'm scared."
Cody said.
"Look at me Cody. You are your father's son. I knew your father and he was the best witch out there. His power flows through you. If you need to, close your eyes, feel the power within you and use it."
"But how?"
Cody asked confused.
"Your body, mind and soul will know what to do when the time comes. But remember, always control your power from your heart."
"Okay I can try. Bye tommy."
Cody said while hugging Tommy then walked down to the basement. Thomas locked the basement up, then Thea did the barrier spell.
"Let's test this out."
Thomas said and tried to grab the basement door, but his hand couldn't get through the barrier.
"It works."
Thomas said then they both walked back to the front of the house. The sky was getting darker from all the dark clouds covering the sky.
"Wolves, let's get in our positions!"
Axl shouted. All the wolves started to transform. Damien walked behind the wolves that he was going to get in position with. Thea then spotted Caleb; he didn't transform yet. Caleb looked at her, she looked back at him. She smiled, he smiled back, then he transformed. Thea started to walk back toward Axl. Axl pulled her close to him and kissed her on her forehead. Then a raindrop fell onto Thea's cheek.
"It's time."
Thea said. Axl transformed and ran to his position.
"Aim and shoot, aim and shoot, don't hesitate."
Thea heard a voice. She looked around and spotted Pete on the roof in position with his paintball gun and bucket of blood balls. Thea then walked over to Tj's pack who were transformed and in position to attack. Thea walked in front of the pack, still in vampire form. More raindrops started to fall. In the distance, Thea could see the vampires. More and more kept coming. There was so many. They all had red eyes, and their fangs showing. The wolves were growling and suddenly the vampires stopped walking. One of the vampires stepped forward. A tall man who looked pure evil.
"Princess Thea! We finally meet."
The vampire said.
"How do you know who I am?"
"There's no time for small talk, you know who I came for. Now deliver the witch to me and we will leave."
"You will never have him!"
"My sweet princess, we outnumber you. You have no chance against us. Now be a good girl and deliver me the witch."
"NEVER!"
"Stubborn just like your mother. Her stubbornness is what got her killed. You don't want the same fate to happen to you, now do you?"
Thea's eyes got bright red, claws out, fangs out, blood coming out of her nose and eyes. Her power was boiling inside of her. She has never felt so much anger before and then BOOM! Thea's hands hit the floor, the wolves started to run toward the vampires, the ground was rising and braking from Thea's hit. It was like a wave. The vampires started to run toward the wolves, but as the vampires were running, most of them flew through the air being thrown by the ground rising and bursting. Pete started to shoot the vampires. The vampires that Pete shot exploded into pieces.
"It works!"
Pete yelled. The leader of the vampires then signaled one of his vamps to use her power. The girl made her hands go in a circle motion, then a twister came up from the ground toward Thea and the wolves. Some of the wolves got caught in the twister and were thrown. Majority of the vampires were so fast, that they ran right past some of the wolves. Then Thomas and some of his pack came rushing forward. Thea closed her eyes, extended her arms and let out a loud scream using all her power to push the twister back toward the vampires. Axl jumped and locked onto one of the vampire's head's and bit it off. He did the same to another. Pete was shooting as many vampires as he could. Thomas had two vampires on top of him. He was in trouble, but Pete was busy shooting vampires trying to reach Thea.
Suddenly, the two vampires on top of Thomas blew up into pieces. Thomas looks up on the roof and see's that it was Kristy who shot and killed them. She came back to help. Kristy and Pete continued to shoot the vampires. Finally, the vampire girl gave up and the twister disappeared. Thea was too strong against her. The vampire leader signaled another vampire to use his power. The vampire then touched the ground and roots from the trees came out grabbing wolves and tossing them like a rag dolls, squeezing some almost until death. The wolves worked together to bite off the roots to help the others that are being squeezed. Thea used her powers and lifted trees out of the ground and threw them toward the vampires. The trees hit some vampires, but not many. The vampires were too fast. Caleb then jumped in the air and locked onto a vampire trying to kill Olivia. Caleb bit the vampires head off. Olivia ran to help Kayla. Then five vampires jumped on top of Caleb. He was in trouble. He couldn't shake them off. Axl jumps and bites two off Caleb. Caleb gets up from the ground and fights the other three. They both kill all five. Axl and Caleb looked at each other and nod, then they ran off to help the others. Thea ran toward the vampires, fighting and ripping their heads off with her claws. As the vampire count was decreasing, the wolves had a sigh of relief, but then the leader of the vampires signaled for more vampires to attack. The vamps ran toward Thea and the wolves. As the vampires got closer to them, some of Bens pack come from the sides and leaped in the air to start attacking the vampires by surprise. Kristy and Pete kept shooting, but they were running out of bullets. A vampire spots them and runs toward them. Pete tried to shoot the vampire, but the vampire is too fast. The vampire leaps onto the roof, ready to kill them both, but Thea jumps onto the roof and kills the vampire.
"Kristy your back?"
"I couldn't run away and let my family fight without me."
Kristy said looking at Thea. Thea felt so loved knowing that Kristy considered her family. Thea smiles and jumps back down off the roof. Then one of the vampires uses its power to lift a werewolf up in the air and another vampire jumps up to kill the wolf, but Tj leaps and gets to the vampire first, killing it. Thea then sees the vampire who is lifting the wolf in the air and runs toward it. Using her power, she lifts the vampire in the air causing it to drop the wolf.
"How does it feel?
Thea said then throws the vampire toward Tj. Tj catches the vampire with his mouth and kills it. Thea looks at the leader who is still at a distance. The leader smiles and signals more vampires to run toward Thea. Then by surprise, Damien and the rest of the wolves come from behind. Damien flies low, biting the heads off the vampires. Thea makes eye contact with the vampire leader.
"Look at you! The power you are using. You belong with me! Imagine us ruling the world together!"
The leader said.
"Never! I'm not evil like you. Wanting to kill an innocent boy because you're afraid that he will be more powerful than you. You coward!"
Thea shouted. The leader laughed.
"Like I said, you need to take a good look at yourself. The power that's within you isn't innocent my dear. Your darkness lingers waiting to come out. The blood that flows through you is what you truly are, a killer."
"You know nothing!"
Thea yelled. She then gets a vision of Ann frightened, looking at the basement door. Thea realizes that leader was distracting her for his vampires to find Cody.
"Cody it's okay they won't get in."
Ann says to Cody while hugging him. They heard the door making noises. The older wolves transform just in case the vamps get through. Two vampires were outside the basement door using their powers to break through the barrier. They were inching their way through, making the basement door shake.
"We are big enough and strong enough. We are WOLVES!"
Liam shouted as he and the other young wolves transform to help fight. Then the door burst opened.
"I smell a human! Time to eat!"
One of the vampires said in a deep voice. The vampires made their way down the stairs. One of the wolves from Tj's pack runs up to attack him, but the vampire is strong and throws the wolf. The other wolf from Tommy's pack runs to attack the vampire. The second vampire is fast and runs past the rest of the wolves and bites down on Ann's neck. The wolf from Ben's pack jumps to attack that vampire, but the vampire turns and throws the wolf. The three younger wolves attack. The younger wolves all bite down on the vampire's body trying to get him away from Ann, but the vampire throws them off one by one. Just as the vampire tries to bite down on Ann's neck again, Thea comes in using her powers and throws the vampire to the wolves that were thrown across the room. The wolves end up killing the vampire. Thea runs over to Ann to see if she was okay. Then the other vampire got loose from the wolf in Tommy's pack and ran toward Cody, but Liam jumps in the air to attack the vampire. The vampire reaches his hand out and grabs Liam by the neck in midair choking him.
"Liam!"
Cody shouted. Then Cody extended his arms toward the vampire.
"STOP!"
As Liam yelled, his power made the vampire drop Liam, and the vampire was thrown through the basement door. Cody ran to Liam.
"Are you alright?"
Cody asked Liam as he transformed back to his human form.
"Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for saving me."
Liam said as he grabbed a blanket that was next to him to cover himself. Cody helped him stand up. They hugged and then Liam walked over to a bin that had old clothes in it to change into. Ann ran to Cody to hug him.
"I have to get back out there. Great job with your powers Cody. Great job wolves!"
Thea shouted to the wolves as she was leaving the basement. As she walked out of the basement, a couple more vampires were heading toward it, but Arlo and some of the other wolves came and killed them. It was starting to rain harder.
"Stay here Arlo and protect them."
Thea told him as she ran off. She saw less vampires and more wolves. Damien was still flying low and killing vampires.
Now to kill their leader.
She ran to find him. As she spotted him, he was surrounded by a few vampires. They all looked worried because they were losing. Thea started to run toward him but stopped because she heard a yelp. It was Kayla. Three vampires were on top of her trying to kill her. Thea started to run toward Kayla. She used her powers to lift all three vampires off her. Thea was weakening because of all the power she had already used, she almost couldn't lift the vampires off Kayla, but she pushed through the pain. Kayla finally got up on her feet. Thea dropped the vampires, then Kayla ran and bit the heads off all three. Thea turned around to run toward the leader. Blood was dripping all over her. Thea and the leader made eye contact once again, but he used his powers and vanished, then reappeared at a very far distance. He smiled at Thea and disappeared again. His remaining vampires were attacked by the wolves and killed. It was over. The wolves won.
"No!"
Cody yelled as he fell to his knees, sobbing just like in Thea's vision. Thea looked in the direction Cody was looking at and saw Thomas on the floor, not moving. Zac was next to him trying to make him move with his paw. Zac transformed and was crying, still trying to make Thomas move. Thea ran to Thomas. She bent down on her knees and put both her hands on his body trying to heal him.
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
Thea was screaming, but nothing was happening.
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
Thea screamed louder, but still nothing happened. Axl, Caleb and the others came running.
"He saved me. Please don't let him die."
Zac begged.
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
Thea screamed again, but her powers weren't working.
"I'm too weak. NO, NO, NO, NO, NO PLEASE."
Thea said with tears rolling down her face. Ann and Kristy walked towards Cody. Ann hugged Cody who was on the floor crying. Kristy saw her brother on the floor and went running towards him.
"NO!"
Kristy said crying.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Thea screamed in pain, but still nothing was happening.
"Not now, just a little more power please!"
Thea begged.
Kristy handed out her arm and Thea quickly drank from her.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Thea screamed again with tears pouring down. She was in so much pain.
"No! Please don't leave us! Please!"
Thea begged while crying. Kristy fell to the ground, screaming and crying, hugging her brother who was still in his wolf form.
"I'm so sorry."
Thea said. She felt defeated. All the wolves bent their head down showing respect for Thomas. Then they all howled. The wolves all transformed and went inside the house. The vampire's headless bodies were turning into dust. Axl and Caleb came out of the house and ran to Thea and Kristy. Thea looked awful. Blood was all over her face. There was blood dripping from her mouth, eyes, ears, and nose. Her fangs were still out, her hands and clothes were bloody. Caleb didn't know what to do. One wrong move and Thea could have another episode and put the whole town in danger. Axl bent down to talk to Thea.
"Hey look at me."
Axl said with tears in his eyes.
"It's not your fault. Come, let's get you washed up and give Kristy some time with Tommy."
Axl told Thea, but Thea didn't respond. Her eyes were still bright red. Axl picked Thea up, she wrapped her arms around his neck and tucked her head into his chest, her feet were dangling over his arm. He walked past all the wolves who were silent and had their heads bent down. Axl got inside the house and walked into the bathroom. He sat Thea down on the floor and turned the shower on. He then started to take her clothes off, just leaving her in her bra and underwear. He picked her up again and they both went into the shower, with Axl fully clothed. He had her stand up, and she leaned her head against his chest. The shower floor was red from all the blood that was coming off Thea's body. She then started crying, Axl wrapped his arms around her.
"I'm here. I'm here."
Axl whispered to Thea, holding her close to him. When all the blood was washed off, they both got out of the shower and dried off.
"Stay here I'm going to go get clothes."
Axl said as he walked out of the bathroom. Thea sat against the wall.
Axl finally comes back with clothes he borrows from one of the boy's rooms. Thea changes into sweatpants and a sweater.
"Are you okay?"
Axl asked.
"No."
"You did all that you could. Don't blame yourself."
"If I was stronger and knew how to control my powers better, I could have saved him."
"Stop Thea!"
Axl shouted.
"It's not your fault. He died saving someone's life. That's Tommy. He always wanted to help others. He was the perfect Alpha. The perfect friend. The perfect brother."
Axl said with a tear rolling down his cheek.
"I'm sorry."
Thea said to Axl.
She whipped the tears coming down from his eyes, then wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. They looked at each other and kissed.
"Let's go. I have to make preparations for his funeral and have to notify the elders."
Axl said.
"Okay."
Axl heads out the bathroom, Thea follows. They walk out the house. It stopped raining. Thea saw Kristy curled up in a ball in Tj's arms crying. Thea walks over to Tj.
"I'll take her."
Thea told him. He nodded and Thea bent down to take his place and hold Kristy.
"Thea, make the pain go away, please."
Kristy begged.
"I don't know how Kristy."
"Heal my heart. It feels like it's breaking into a million pieces."
"I wish I could make the pain go away."
"Please Thea anything."
Kristy begged again and started crying in Theas arms. Then Caleb walked over, kneeled and put his hand on Tommy's head. Thea looked at him, but Caleb didn't look at her, his head was down, and she saw a tear fall from him cheek. He got up and walked away. Liam started to walk over toward Thomas, but Axl grabbed him. Liam was sobbing in Axl's arms. He handed Liam to Ann who was still holding Cody.
"Today our Alpha, brother, and friend gave his life to save another. It was an honor to fight beside him, to learn from him, to just be around him. He always wanted the best for everyone, to help them in any way he could. Now it's our turn to honor him and give him the best damn funeral that a wolf deserves."
Axl said.
"My pack will handle the wood."
TJ said.
"Mine will gather the baby breath flowers."
Ben said. Pete then put a huge white sheet over Thomas.
"My.....Tommy's pack will gather the stones."
Axl corrected himself and said. The wolves then went their separate ways to gather what they needed.
"Come on Kristy, let's go to my house. It's quite there. I'll get you freshened up and ready for the funeral."
Thea said. Kristy nodded her head and started to stand up. Kristy leaned on Thea as they started to walk toward Kristy's car.
"I'm going to take the boys to my house for a bit and we will come back for the funeral."
Ann told Thea.
"Okay. Call me if you need anything."
Thea said and continued walking. They reached Kristy's car and Thea tried to turn it on with her powers. The car made a clicking noise but stopped. Thea was still very weak. Thea tried to turn it on again, and almost had it. She tried a third time, but it still didn't turn on. Kristy reached in her pocket and gave Thea the car keys. Thea put Kristy in the car, then she got in and drove off. The car ride was silent. Thea didn't know what to say. They finally reached Thea's house. Kristy got out on her own and they both walked into the house. Kristy sat down on the couch. Thea sat next to her.
"I don't understand. Why Tommy? He was such a good person."
I been alive for over 200 years and I still don't understand why the good ones must leave us. Are you going to call your parents or anyone?"
"My parents wouldn't care. As soon as I decided to go live with Tommy they moved far away. They hated that Tommy had the wolf gene. They hated the thought of being different. Even though it's in their blood! How crazy is that? As soon as I decided to be a part of Tommy's world, they disowned me."
"How could they not accept him? Aren't they wolves?"
"No. They never turned, like me. They don't understand it. They thought Tommy could just switch the wolf gene off or something."
"How did he become alpha?"
The alpha before Tommy chose Tommy to take his place."
"I'm sorry your parents did that to you guys."
"It's okay, they didn't deserve him."
"Or you!"
"They definitely don't deserve to know my daughter."
Kristy said with tears in her eyes.
"I'll get the shower ready for you."
Thea said and walked into the bathroom to start the shower. She then walked out of the room to get Kristy.
"Showers ready, just pick whatever clothes you want to wear."
"Okay. Thank you."
Kristy says as she starts to walk toward the bathroom. Thea then lays down on the couch and looks up at the ceiling.
I wish Axl was holding me right now. Wait no, I can get through this by myself. He doesn't need my mess. I hope Caleb is okay. I should go make sure when we get back. Ugh, no because if he's upset, he will say something awful then I'll get mad. No one needs to hear us bickering.
Thea closed her eyes and fell asleep.
"Thea, Thea, Thea!"
Kristy shouted and Thea woke up.
"What happened?!"
"The baby! She kicked! Here feel!"
Kristy grabbed Thea's hand and put it on her tummy. The baby kicked.
"I can't believe it!"
Thea said with a big smile.
"She's trying to make you happy. She knows your sad."
Thea said as her hand was on Kristy's tummy.
"Oh baby girl, everything is better now. I love you so much. Uncle Tommy is gone, but he's going to watch over us. We have a big family waiting for you when you arrive. The boys are going to love you and watch over you, Thea is going to teach you how to be the strongest and bravest wolf there is. How do you do that?"
Kristy asked looking at Thea.
"Do what?"
"Know what she's thinking. She's a wolf and not in your pack. She's not even born yet."
"I don't know. It's hard to explain. It's more like I know what she's feeling. It's weird."
"Your amazing Thea."
Kristy's said and started to hug Thea.
"I'm going take a quick shower. I didn't really shower with Axl, more like just rinse off."
"Shower with Axl?"
"He was just helping me."
Kristy started to smile.
"My brother knew you guys will end up being together."
"Oh stop it."
"I don't know if I can say goodbye to Tommy."
"I'll be right by your side. The whole time."
Thea said and Kristy nodded. Thea walked to the bathroom and got in the shower.
"Mom if you're watching over me, please guide me through this."
Thea said as she put her body under the water.
"Kristy thinks I'm staying. Am I staying? No, I can't. I'm a ticking time bomb. That stupid vamp said darkness flows through me. What does that even mean? He kept calling me princess. What does he know? I need to find him. No, I have been running my whole life. I finally found a home, a family. A dysfunctional one, but a family. I'm a mess. I don't want to bring trouble. I don't want anyone else getting hurt. I don't know what I'm capable of. I don't know what's coming next. But Axl, he keeps me sane. He will help me. Then there's Caleb who frustrates me and gets me all worked up, but I need him too. He..... I don't know, I just feel complete when he's around. It's hard to explain. Mom I miss you. Please if you can hear me show me a sign. You must be watching over me; I just know it. The amount of power I had today, you had to have been helping me. Please mother give me a sign."
Thea begged, but nothing happened. She showers herself and got out. She changes into her clothes, brushed her hair and teeth, then walked out of the room.
"What's wrong?"
Kristy asked.
"Nothing."
"Tell me Thea. I know something is wrong just by looking at you."
"Fine. You mentioned to the baby that Tommy is going to watch over you both, so I figured my mother might be watching over me. I tried to talk to my dead mother who is clearly not around. I just, the power that I felt today, that I used to help fight, it was a power I never felt before. I thought she was guiding me, but it turns out it was just another mystery for me to figure out about myself."
Kristy stands up from the couch and walks toward Thea.
"She is with you Thea. Just like how my brother will be watching over me and the baby. You just have to believe."
Thea nodded and they both started to walk out the door. They got into the car and started to drive.
They arrive at the wolf house.
"Looks like their almost done with the stand."
"What's the stand for?"
Kristy asked.
"To place Tommy on top of. It's built on wood, surrounded by stone to show strength. The baby breath flowers will surround the stand and on top of Tommy. They represent pureness and freedom from any pain the soul carries. Then the fire is lit. Legend has it that the smoke from the fire caries the soul of the wolf to the stars. This tradition has been done for centuries. It's the greatest honor. Only wolves that are worthy get to have this done. They are worthy to be with the stars that light our sky. It's said that the stars that shine the brightest are the stars that have the soul of a wolf."
Thea explained. Kristy has a tear come down her cheek as she smiles.
"Come, there's Ann."
Kristy says as they walk over to Ann.
"How are you guy's holding up?"
Thea asks Ann.
"The boys calmed down a bit. They are still shaken up about Thomas. I'm so sorry Kristy."
Ann says as she touches Kristy's shoulder. Kristy nods.
"Where are the boys?"
"Over there with Axl and Kai gathering the stones. Do you want me to make you some tea Kristy?"
Ann asked.
"Yes please."
Kristy says then starts walking toward the house.
"Thea, I heard some of the wolves say the leader of the vampires got away. Is that true?"
Ann asks Thea.
"Yes, he got away."
"Do you think he will come back to kill Cody?"
"No. The only person he would come back for is me, but he knows he will lose. No need to worry about him."
"Okay. I'm going to go make that tea, do you want some?"
"No thank you. I'll catch up to you guys in a bit."
Thea said. Ann smiled and walked toward the house. Thea saw Damien and walked over to him.
"Hey boy. What are you still doing here? You should be gathering your family and heading home."
Damien then grunted and looked toward Tommy's body that was covered.
"Thank you for staying and paying your respects."
Thea kisses Damien on the forehead. She then walks over to Axl.
"Is everything going okay?"
Thea asks.
"Yeah. How is Kristy holding up?"
"She barely is. Are you okay?"
"No, not really, but I have to hold this pack together. We have no alpha. The elders will pick a new one after the funeral."
"Do you think they will pick you?"
"I don't know. If they do, then I'll be ready."
Axl said while stacking the stones next to the wood. Thea see's Caleb walking by. She starts to walk toward him, but Olivia gets to him first. Caleb and Olivia hugged, then they went their separate ways.
"Thea."
Liam said while he hugged her.
"Hey how are you feeling?"
"I don't know."
Liam said while he shrugged his shoulders. Kai runs up and starts to lick Thea and Liam.
"Thanks boy."
Thea said.
"Sorry guys, I'm still working on him jumping on people."
Cody said.
"It's okay. Hey, you boys go rest before the funeral."
"Okay."
Liam and Cody said together as they wondered off with Kai. Thea walked into the house. Kristy was drinking the tea Ann made her. Thea sat down in the chair next to Kristy. It was silent for a while. Thea looked out the window and saw David. David walked up to Axl and gave him a hug. Then he walked over to Caleb and hugged him. Caleb started talking to David, and then they hugged again.
What is going on with Caleb?
"Hey, we are ready. The Elders will be here any minute."
Axl said as he walked in the house.
"I'll go get the boys."
Ann said.
"Are you going to be okay?"
Thea asked Kristy.
"I think I will be."
Kristy told Thea as she wrapped her arm around hers and walked out the front door. It was silent. Tommy's body was still in wolf form and was on top of the stand. Thea led Kristy to the only chair that was out. All the wolves were standing to show respect for their fallen wolf. Kristy sat down; Thea stood behind her. Then the Elders came. They stood by the stand.
"Today one of our own has fallen. It was a great honor to have Thomas as our alpha. He has taught our young wolves how to protect our town, to protect each other, and most recently to protect all innocents."
One of the elders said as he looked at Cody, and Ann. Ann smiled and nodded as a gesture of saying thank you.
"Now we shall set him free to be with the stars, so he can guide us in the night when our enemies come upon us."
Another elder said referring to the vampires. All four elders then toss the baby breath flowers on top of Tommy's body. Axl walks up to the stand and lights it on fire. The stand is now in flames. Kristy was crying. Tj walked over to comfort her.
As time passed, the fire was dying down. The elders left. Thea was by Kristy.
"David."
Kristy said as she stood up to hug David.
"He's with the stars now. He will always be with us."
David told Kristy. He then looked at Thea and went to give her a hug.
"How are you holding up?"
David ask's Thea.
"I'm okay."
Axl came and gave Kristy a hug.
"Sorry to interrupt, but we are going to head home."
Ben said.
"No worries. Thank you for coming and helping us."
Thea said.
"Yeah man thanks."
Axl said.
"No, thank you guys for changing how we see things. Innocent is innocent no matter what you are. I'm going to go find Cody and say bye to him."
Ben said then walked off. Bens pack started to leave the yard.
"It's time for us to go too. It was an honor to fight alongside of you guys."
Tj said to Axl and Thea. He hugged them both. As Thea was hugging Tj, she looked around the yard and noticed Caleb wasn't around. She let go of Tj.
"Hey, do you know where Caleb is? I'm sure he wants to tell you goodbye.
Thea asked Tj. Tj didn't answer her.
"Does anyone know where Caleb is?"
Thea asked everyone around her, but they all stayed silent.
Something is wrong.
She picked up Caleb's scent and started to run toward it.
"Thea!"
Axl yelled, but she didn't listen. She kept running. Finally, after she went through the woods, she found Caleb by Tj's car.
"Caleb!"
Thea yelled. Caleb saw Thea and had a surprised look on his face.
"What are you doing out here?"
Thea asked him.
"Thea....."
"No, don't say your leaving."
"I have to. I must figure myself out, get better, do better. Tj and his pack can help me. I owe it to Tommy. Tommy has always tried to help me, but I have always pushed him away. I need to do this for him, for myself."
Caleb said while walking toward Thea.
"And you thought you can just leave without saying goodbye to me? Everyone knew you were leaving expect me. Why?"
"Because it was easier for me to go without saying bye to you."
Caleb said looking into Theas eyes.
"I'll go with you and help you."
"No Thea. You made a family here. You can finally settle down in one place and be surrounded by people who love you. You deserve that."
"That family that you're talking about includes you. I want you to stay. I need...."
"No don't say it because we both know what you're about to say isn't true. Who you need is Axl. He is who you need by your side. He can take care of you and be there for you when you need him to be. He has proven that repeatedly. I have just failed you."
"What! No you haven't! You may have said the wrong things sometimes, but that's different. It's just what me and you do, we make each other angry, we forget about it and then we make each other angry again. It's a cycle we can live with."
"Thea stop."
Caleb said as he put his hands on each side of her face.
"We bring the worst out of each other. There's no denying that. You're going to stay and make a life for yourself."
"I'll go visit you."
"No. I'm not staying with Tj very long. Me and a couple other wolves from his pack are going to travel and help wolves like me, who are lost within themselves."
"Caleb please stay."
Thea begged with tears rolling down her cheek.
"Here I got this for you, well I stole it from a thrift store I went to with Olivia."
Caleb pulled out a box that had a necklace in it. It had a black shiny weird shape stone dangling from it. He put it on Thea's neck.
"It's beautiful. What is this stone supposed to be?"
"I have no idea, but it reminded me of you, so I took it. It's beautiful and different just like you."
Caleb said as he put his hand on Thea's cheek and rubbed his thumb across it. Thea hugged Caleb so tight as if it was the last time she was ever going to hug him. Caleb wrapped his arms around her, his cheek against the side of her head. He put both of his hands on the sides of her face again and put his forehead against hers. They both had their eyes closed, embracing the moment they were in each other's arms. Caleb let go of Thea's face and lifted his forehead from her. Thea grabbed his hand, Caleb looked at Thea one last time and started to walk away, Thea losing grip of his hand until she finally let go. She watched him as he walked away. Tj was at the car waiting for him. He got in, and they drove away.
I can't move. I feel like a piece of me has left my body, I feel incomplete.
She stood in the same spot for a couple of minutes, frozen. She finally started to walk back toward the wolf house, holding back her tears. She didn't want to bring more tears to a sad day. Then right as she was exiting the woods, Axl was there waiting for her. Thea ran into his arms. He held her close to him as her tears were flowing down.
"It's okay, I'm here."
Axl whispered.
Caleb was right. I do need Axl. Maybe he was right about everything. Family, I finally have a family.
"Come, let's go say bye to Damien."
Axl said and they walked over to Damien.
"Hey boy."
Thea said as she hugged him.
"I'm going to miss you. Thank you for everything. Especially thank you for being such a great friend."
Damien licked Thea. She smiled and giggled. Damien then flew up in the sky and flew away.
"Are you ready?"
Axl asked.
"Ready for what?"
"To start your life. No more running. You're staying. Aren't you?"
Axl said looking at Thea. She smiled.
"Yes. Yes, I'm staying."
