Balfour is the Clan chief of a Highland tribe (Donan) in Scotland. His tribe it the biggest in the North.

This gives you an idea of Scotland and where the Vikings lives. The purple area is Viking/Norse dominated and that is where Balfour reigns. The archipelago of islands to the North (Orkney Isles) is the estimated area in which Berk is located. To the left, you see a collection of islands that are Norse-Gaels. They are dominated by the Irish (Gaels) and the Vikings (Norse), who lived together as Vikings had begun settling in Ireland 'Hibernia'.
