Waking up I felt groggy and dizzy. Shit they drugged me. I squeeze my eyes shut against a harsh light.

“What is she?” says a male voice above me.

“I don’t know I saw her in the woods walking about and once she spotted me, I thought I was as good as dead.” Says another male voice above me.

I open my eyes a little and see two men hover over me. I tried to sit up and that’s when I noticed I was restrained. Tugging furiously my mind cleared.

“Let me go,” I growl tugging on the chains. Glancing around I could see I was in a hardly furnished room, except for the bed I was strapped to, thankfully I was fully clothed, and a table with several chairs in various positions.

“I’m sorry but we can’t do that. We won’t hurt you.” I recognized the man who shot me in the forest.

I snarled at him, “You’ve already done enough, let me go now.” I’m shaking with my hardly repressed anger.

He frowns and shakes his head sorrowfully, “We already know what you are and that’s why we can’t let you go. You’ll expose yourself in your carelessness.”

The man beside him was older by a few years. He stood across the bed with his arms crossed with two fingers on his mouth, staring at me pensively.

“Are you weres too?” I ask, already knowing the answer.

“Yes,” the older man said, “you’re on our territory and I want to know why.”

I snort, “Yeah that’s what I would like to know.” I mumble.

“You mean you don’t know?” The younger man stepped closer and we locked eyes. His eyes shone silver and he frowned again. “That’s strange. Her mind is a blank slate, Alpha. It’s like she never had a life, no memories at all, except she just shifted last night.”

I gasped, I felt violated, “How the hell did you do that?”

“Coen has a special gift, the gift of seeking the truth.” The Alpha said.

“Hmm,” Coen’s silver eyes unnerved me so I avoided his gaze, “Where am I?”

The Alpha stood silent before sitting on the edge of the bed, “You’re in my house, the territory of the Moon’s Light. Coen found you wandering through our forests and tranquilized you to bring you here. You however I’m not quite sure about. But one thing for certain you reek of power, probably an Alpha’s pup.”

It was my turn to frown as I thought about what he said. An Alpha’s daughter, how come I couldn’t remember anything? What happened?

I sigh feeling the beginnings of a headache, grasping my head I take a deep breath.

“I’m sorry but I don’t remember anything, I wish I could but nothing comes to mind. All I remember is feeling an immense pain that comes along with the first shift and then running through the forest. But I don’t remember why I was in the forest in the first place and why I was running away.”

He nodded, “I’ll send my scouts to search the perimeter as well as the forest and see if they can find anything.”

“Word of advice I would check far, I was following my old scent when I was rudely shot down.” I say pointedly looking in Coen’s direction but not directly at him.

He laughed, “Don’t worry I won’t invade your mind again, I don’t go about spending my day invading people’s minds, not unless it’s required.”

I rolled my eyes growing increasingly infuriated with this man.

The Alpha laughed and patted my knee, “It’s true you don’t have to fear. What there is to fear is whether you are a threat to my pack or not. But for now I will give my trust seeing as you are clueless as to whom you are but I will ask around and see if someone is missing a she wolf.”

I nodded, but I didn’t plan on staying here. I had to find my home or wherever I came from.

“Thank you and I appreciate your help but I would rather be the one out there looking for clues. I won’t be kept captive here.”

“You’re not a captive-“ Coen started before I lifted up my shackled arms.

“Set her free,” The Alpha stood and walked towards the door, “You will stay here because it is the safest for you. Be patient, I will help you find your pack. Besides wouldn’t it be faster this way instead of wandering through the forest in a place that’s unfamiliar?”

He had a point but I was restless and I needed answers and I needed them now. Regardless of his upper hand I had to do something before I drove myself crazy.

“Maybe she can help me look for clues, maybe she’ll spot something that we don’t and that way I can keep a close eye on her and make sure she stays out of trouble.” Coen said noticing my perplexing thoughts flit through my face.

The Alpha nodded, “Quick thinking, I’ll let everyone know that we have a new guest and to treat her with respect.” He stated and then walked to the door but right before he left he spun around quickly, “Oh I almost forgot. What’s your name?”

I responded without thinking, “Nia…I think that’s a nickname.” I gasped, it was my nickname but what was my real name? I frowned again trying to slow my racing thoughts. It must have been a name people called me by a lot.

He nodded and smiled, “At least you know something even if it’s from your subconscious. Well Nia you are welcomed in my home and if you need anything let Coen know.”

I nodded before asking for his name.

“Oh, you may call me Finn. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to alert everyone and get back to my meeting.” With that he opened the door behind and I noticed stairs leading the way down before he shut it quietly.

The silence lasted for a while as I came to terms with my new position, but I was determined. I’d find out what happened to me.

Coming to the conclusion I looked at Coen expectantly, “Will you get me out of these shackles already.”

He smiled coming over with the key, “Let’s go, we have lots of work to do.”
