The next day i staid home from school and so did Eric but Ariel went so Eric decided to take me downtown to shop at the market. We went into the ice cream shop and rested. we sat there holding hands and laughing.
"see this is how its supposed to be. free." Eric said and i nodded.
"Someday we'll be able to do this and Ariel will know."
"I hope so."
We ate and left as we walked i felt like something was wrong. i stopped Eric. he looked down at me.
"Whats wrong baby?" Eric asked
"i dont know, i just feel weird." Eric smiled and wrapped his arms around me and kissed me.
"Dont worry, you're safe with me." Eric promised. "Nothing will ever hurt you while im around." We walked a little further down the market and then turned back to go home. When we were almost to the car screeching tires caught my attention. i turned but Eric pulled my close covering my body with his and pulled us to the ground. The sound of gun shots rang out and the tires screeched again. A drive by. "Are you okay?" Eric asked me. i nodded and clung to him but when i touched his ribs he grunted and fell. my hand came away wet. i glanced down and it was red with blood. i gasped and looked at Eric. his shirt was blood soaked already as he laid there.
"Eric!" i screamed kneeling beside him. i put my hand over the wound and put pressure. his eyes tightly shut from the pain. "Eric! Look at me!!" i said his eyes opened and he glanced at me.
"I love you Rachel." he whispered.
"No! Dont do that to me!" i lightly slapped his face to keep him awake. i didnt realise i was crying until Eric reached up and whipped away the tears.
"Dont cry..." he said. i could hear the sirens and then an EMT was next to me taking my place in trying to stop the bleeding they put him in the ambulance while i climbed in beside him. Both of my hands blood soaked, but i still grabbed his. Praying that i didnt lose him.
