Be Like Hugh Laurie, Midwestern American Actor.
August 29, 2013 Los Angeles, CAFrom the Casting Thingy: Male or Female, age 16 - 60, all ethnicities. Looking for people with AUTHENTIC GEORDIE ACCENTS (Regional British accent from the Northeast of England) Director is NOT interested in anyone 'doing' the accent, must be authentic.
I would love to eventually hear the story of the American Midwesterner who lands this role in the same way Hugh Laurie landed "House."
We had no idea he was English from the audition!
Yeah. I guess "Blackadder," "A Bit of Frye & Laurie," "Jeeves & Wooster" or anything from "The Cambridge Footlights" would have clued them in on him not being from America. I guess a Google Search failed them.
So have at it, American Midwesterner. Go to that audition and just do that Geordie accent you heard from the guy who works at your office in Iowa. Go and do that honed accent all the way through your audition from the time you walk in to the time you leave. People on the Casting Thingy in America are not that bright.
Soupy Twist.
