" Why did the cookie go to the hospital? " Chase asks me as he leans on the couch next to me. We're supposed to be watching a movie with all the other kids, but he had other ideas. Like bring a dumb joke book with him. I swear, if I find the author of this book, I will kill him. He'd better run. I am not kidding. 

" Why? " Marissa asks as she slowly turns her gaze back to the screen. 

" Because he felt crummy. " 

" Ha ha. " Clayton throws some popcorn at Chase's head. 

" Oi! Don't throw things at greatness. " 

" I'm not. I'm just throwing it at you. " Clayton smiles. 

" Every day, you and Aura deflate my ego more and more. " Chase sighs. 

" Then go borrow some from your dad. I'm sure he's got more than enough to spare. " Clayton smirks as he jokes with Chase. 

Chase ignores him and goes back to his cursed book. " Why did Johnny throw the clock out of the window? " 

" Who cares. " Mia sighs.

Chase ignores her. I think he loves bugging us. " Because he wanted to see time fly! " 

" Ha. Ha. Ha! " I say, dragging out each word with sass dripping off my lips. " So funny. I died internally. " 

" What did the policeman say to his belly button? " I groan and slap my forehead. " You're under a vest! " I literally want to take that book from his hands and throw it out a window. Or better, light a bonfire and watch it burn. " What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta. " I growl. " What do lawyers wear to court? Lawsuits! " Chase chuckles. " Why is there a gate around cemeteries? " 

" Chase, don't you dare finish that j-" My threat gets cut off. 

" Because people are dying to get in!!! " Chase laughs. 

I fling myself at him and tackle him to the ground. " Enough with the freaking book! I will slap you with it a hundred times if I have to hear another one of your dumb jokes!!!! " 

Chase laughs and pushes me away from him. " Jeez Aura. I love me too, but I don't try to jump myself. No need to fling yourself at me like that. There's plenty of me to go around for you and the book. If you were jealous and wanted me to spend time with you, all you had to do is say so. " 

I gape at him. " I am not jealous, of a freaking book! Don't flatter yourself little boy. " 

" You're younger than me. " Chase points out. 

" In physical appearances maybe. Mentally, I'm way older than you're two year old self. " I retort. 

" And if you look to the left, you'll see a teenage girl, about to kill a boy. Now folks, this isn't something new. They're always trying to murder each other. But the, one laying on top of the other is new. " I hear Tony laugh as he talks. " They're a rare breed, called the teenaliens. One word combined folks. " 

I growl up at Tony. " You're just as annoying as your son! " I push myself away from Chase and flick his head. I make sure to do it really hard. 

" Ow! " Chase says as he touches his head. 

" Deserved it! " I hiss.

" Aura! " Natasha calls up to me. I smile and slide into my dark leather jacket. 

" Coming dad! " I yell back. I rush to the elevator where Natasha's waiting. " I'm ready. " 

" Finally! I was beginning to think your closet swallowed you up. " Natasha teases as she walks closer to me. " Your date's been waiting outside for almost ten minutes. " I roll my eyes with a small grin. She straightens my pretty blue blouse and tucks the collar corner under my leather jacket. " Beautiful. " She pats my shoulder lightly and heads to the elevator. She knocks and the door opens revealing my dad. 

We're going on a daddy/daughter date. We don't get to spend much time together anymore, so this is going to be so nice. I can't wait. Dad's been very busy lately, and I miss hanging out with him. 

Dad's dressed nicely in a dark suit that Tony bought for him when we went to a wedding last year. In his hand, a big, red rose catches my attention. " Darling, you look wonderful. This is for you. " Dad hands me the rose. 

I smile and take the pretty rose into my hands. " Thanks dad. " 

" Shall we go darling? " Dad extends his hand out to me. 

" We shall. " I take his hand, thank Natasha, and follow dad into the elevator. 

We take a cab to a baseball game. It was awesome! I don't know how I've gone this long in life without going to a baseball game!! I loved the noise and the energy flowing through the crowd. 

" Dad, that was awesome. We should come back again. " I squeal as we walk out of baseball stadium. 

" Yes. We should. " Dad laughs as he wraps an arm around my shoulders. " That was fun. " 

" Did you see that curve ball?! He threw it perfectly! " I get into the cab before dad and we head to a restaurant. 

My stomach growls as the waiter sets a pizza in front of me and dad. " Mhm. " I sigh as I take a bite. " This is so good! " 

Dad sighs as he looks at me sadly. 

" What? " I ask. 

" It seems like only yesterday you were a little baby, babbling to yourself about nonsense. Now, you're so big. It's crazy. " Dad brushes some of my hair out of my face. 

I smile. " I do talk to myself about...weird stuff all the time. "

Dad laughs, all sadness disappearing. " Yeah. " 

We finish eating and make our way back to the tower. All of a sudden, I feel the sudden urge to hug my dad. 

" Dad. " I look up at him. 

" Yes Darling? " I hug him, holding onto him like my life depends on the hug. " Whoa! You have a tight grip. " 

I sigh and look up at him. " Promise me you'll never leave me? " I ask out of the blue. 

Dad's eyebrows furrow. " Where did you ever get an idea like that? " 

I shrug. " This girl in my class, Gina, her mom left when she was little and then her dad left her with her grandma for his assistant. I don't want to lose you again. "

" Aura. " Dad shakes his head. " I will never leave you Aura. Never. I love you darling. I'd never leave you. " Dad reassures. 

"  Okay. " I nod and hug him again. 

" Now, Let's get you home before you get a cold. It is quite chilly out here. " Dad and I walk back to the tower, me feeling happy.
