Remus was tired.

The night before, he and his mum had to drive to a bigger town three hours away for his checkup.

It was supposed to be an hour at most, then he and his mum would get In and Out for dinner and be home by eight. That was what they did every month.

That night, though, they found something wrong and had to clean out his heart port.

It had taken eight hours instead of one, and they got home at four am.

Remus never was able to sleep in cars; he wanted to make sure he wouldn't get in a car crash and the unexpected jolts when they hit a bump would always knock any sleep from his body.

And when they got back, he barely slept at all just because of the fact that they hadn't noticed anything wrong with his port and if they hadn't gone to the appointment he could've died.

So now he was sitting on a hill next to James, staring at the sunset as the latter rambled to him about anything and everything. He was trying to listen but he was so tired, it barely registered, and he could barely mumble a response every few moments.

He fell asleep with his head on James' shoulder and a smile on his face.
