Billy Black had made a lot of mistakes in his lifetime, but having an affair with Florence Rhodes was not one of them. He'd fallen in love with her. She was an outsider, a young woman that had been transferred from Forks Grade School to La Push's to help better the education. Florence Rhodes was never accepted by anyone but Billy, and that's where their love had begun. When no one else seemed to give her a break, Billy Black had held her hand and made her feel welcomed. It was unfortunate that he was married already, but at the end of the day, love knows no bounds, especially for Billy's kind.
No one could truly explain the young woman's sudden disappearance. Often Billy wondered if he'd been the reason why his love had left La Push, for it was no secret she loved him, yet hated the idea of hurting his wife and tearing his family apart. She deemed herself a mistake if only she'd know she was everything Billy Black had wanted his entire life.
