Carson Hughes

Most people have the luxury of forgetting the embarrassing things they had done while drunk. There was one time Archie stripped in front of everyone at a party and got up on a table to sing loudly and off key to whatever song was playing. The next day, he had no idea what he had done.

I, unfortunately, was not one of those people.

I woke up with a pounding headache, every throb banging against my skull being a painful reminder of everything I had done last night, the worst of all being kissing Vinny. I was slightly unnerved at the fact that I had come out to him before any of my friends, but that was nothing compared to the mortification I felt that I had made a move on him.

My hand held my head as I sat up on the couch, my tired eyes squinting as the sun peaked through the windows. It hurt to even try opening my eyes further.

Through squinted eyes, I looked around the room to see that Archie and Isaac were still asleep on the floor, but Logan and Dana were nowhere to be found.

It took all my energy, but I stood up from the couch and made my way up the basement stairs to find Logan and Dana in the kitchen, Logan standing in front of the stove while Dana sat at the counter on a stool.

"Morning," I muttered, sitting down beside Dana, resting my elbow on the table and putting my head in my hand.

Logan turned to look at me from where he stood at the stove while Dana sent a silent wave my way.

"You look brutal," Logan commented before turning back to the stove.

It was evident that he wasn't feeling much of a hangover, but I thought mine had more to do with the memories surfacing in my brain than the alcohol that I drank.

"He said the same to me this morning," Dana told me with a hard glance. She had her hair up in a bun, strands falling out at the sides.

"I said we look brutal," Logan defended, turning around again. "I literally woke up with your hair in my mouth."

I looked down at my hands as the two bickered. I couldn't look up at Logan without feeling a sense of dread at the thought of him finding out I had kissed his brother last night. It took all my willpower not to look around in search for Vinny, not that I thought he would want to see me after last night anyway.

"Carson?" Dana's voice called out, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Hm?" I hummed.

"We just asked if you knew how we got home last night," Dana clarified. "Logan's car isn't here so we obviously didn't drive."

"Oh, um," I started, clearing my throat and sitting up a little straighter. "I called Vinny to come get us."

"You did?" Logan wondered in shock. "And he actually came?"

I nodded. "Yeah, he did."

"Well good thing I decided to be a good brother this morning and make him breakfast," Logan said, gesturing toward the eggs he was cooking on the stove.

"You're making him breakfast?"

Logan nodded and sheepishly smiled. "I've been trying to go along with his diet with him so he'd actually do it."

Just as he finished his sentence, Vinny entered the kitchen with his eyes down, Luna following him closely. There was no indication of it, but it felt like he was just trying to keep his eyes away from me.

"Hey, thanks for getting us last night," Logan said when he saw his brother.

Vinny just shrugged, leading Luna to the sliding door and out to the back yard.
