You were a pair of fresh jumper cables on a beat up afternoon.

hey..

Surrounded by everyone, but it feeling like no one.
We poured water until it was all tipped out.
As if it were oxygen to our weak lungs.
Taking turns to reach into the cooler like it were a bag of sweet blessings to erase our little sins.

honestly..

The hard sidewalk and cool grass made everything a little more bearable as we took our seats.
You held a little glass of your own in which generously took me in.
Carefully down we went as I tipped my glass over into the other.

not too much.

The air was thick like melon, but the conversation as  smooth as honey.
Still slowly I tipped mine towards you,
conscious enough to never let it slip away.
My hands held it up, as we watched the stars.
They burned holes into our eyes at the fact they existed so brightly somewhere else, but they warmly accepted our invitation.

        don't worry

A big sister in angels clothing
You wrapped me in laughter and took away what I thought was discomfort.
You scraped the burdens from my rusted shoulders, and for the second that it took you reminded me that I was normal.
