winter ocean

words are tough but they come in waves
splashing over me once again in a rage of  messy scrabble pieces.
they're heavy
they're jagged and peeling,
seeping a scent of self regret

toss me your soggy paper plane.

somewhere between light and darkness
I'll be standing
waiting for the sunrise
waiting for the little surprise of you
I'm staring and waiting for your winter ocean
come and find me in the midst of the missed folds of your origami boat.
find me in your first pair of shoes
find me with your training wheels
yes, find me with your homemade bracelets and the toys you once thought would be lost forever
at the back of the shelf where you hid the last book,

you could look for me _

I'm not the answer but the result of who you've always been, and who you are now
your muddy feet have grown
your smile has learned to pierce through what may have seemed like a never ending abyss of darkness
I've been there to watch it all when you weren't able to see it
you're ready,, you just can't see that yet
the billions of stars hidden in plain daylight
you're so strong, you just keep trying to lift the weight of the world when you're only one person.
    your heart is good
full of the many things you wish you could do, and you still have the time to do them
And another year has come to its end
and you're still questioning yourself like the little one you are
I'm here to tell you it's okay.
I'm here to let you know that now is only shy of a gentle push toward your from-now-ons.
embrace yourself for who you are this time
keep your head up and back straight
want what you want
love what you love
care about what you care about

who said you aren't who you strive to be?
who says you can't go as far as your pretty little mind has taken you already?
you are incredible.
who told you no?

another year of making resolutions and wishing for another holly day that you won't be making the longing wishes alone
to make your fresh start stick

roll your pants back up to where
they used to be.
tie your shoes.
wear your hair out.
dance at the gas pump.
sing with the headphones on.
love her.
untangle your mind and love him.
loosen your tie.
wear the makeup.
don't wear the makeup.
stand out or stand separate.
you're different
and that is okay.

it really is okay :)

you don't need to change who you are.
be who you've been trying to keep inside all this time..and even if you can't accept everything the way it is,,

who says you can't roll with that..until you can?

until you can?
