The demon rose through the newly painted pentagram, a smile plastered on his face.
"Bendy! ...you're early." A voice rang from across the room, "I hadn't finished setting up yet."
"I k n o w, I n e e d e d t o t a l k t o y o u, J o e y..." He stared up at the man with blank eyes, "W h y d o y o u k e e p t h e m a r o u n d?"
"What do you mean?" Joey looked at him confused.
"W h y d o I h a v e a l l t h e s e u s e l e s s 'e m p l o y e e s' h a n g i n g a r o u n d m y s t u d i o? T h e y h a v e p r o v e n t o h a v e n o p u r p o s e, s o w h y d o t h e y s t i l l e x i s t?" Joey laughed slightly, placing his hand on the demons head.
"We need them for sacrifices - experiments. You surely don't think I could get something like you right the first time." He gave him an almost wicked smile, as he went back to setting up, "Besides! The help is always nice. We could always use more followers, couldn't we?" The demon frowned.
"A n d I ' m s u p p o s e d t o b e o k a y w i t h t h i s?! I d o n ' t t h i n k y o u u n d e r s t a n d-!"
"Do you really want me to take away everything you have? More people mean more power for you. You don't want to loose all that, now would you?" He could feel Joey's smug smile burning into his ink. It annoyed him that this mortal was right.
"N o..." The demon groaned.
"That's what I thought." He looked over at him, "Now, what's our saying here in the studio?"
The demon took in a deep breath, "W o r k h a r d... w o r k h a p p y..." He followed Joey with his eyes as he bent down.
"So smile!" He gave the demon the biggest grin, only turning away when he returned the gesture. "But if we're done, I should be off." Joey walked over to the door, "They're not going to sacrifice themselves!" As he left the room, the demon let out a low growl.
"I ' m g o i n g t o k i l l t h a t m a n... o n e d a y."
