Yesterday had been memorable for the Canadian; he got to know Russia a bit. And, as he had predicted, the tall Slavic republic was much kinder and in general nicer than he appeared. He may look terrifying, but he is truly a caring country if you truly got to know him, and if he let you know him.
Canada had made many friends before, but it this time it felt new. Felt different. Canada couldn't exactly point it out, but there was something underlying it. Either way, he was glad to know a bit about him.
The maple leaf country walked outside into the cool, crisp air and let out a low sigh. The breath showed clearly in the air around him, but quickly disappeared. The sun rose slowly, and the chirping of birds surrounded the tall country standing there. It was peaceful and calming and beautiful.
Alas, that lasted for hardly even ten minutes before it was interrupted. He heard muffled knocking on the front door and quickly went inside to see who was there.
It was Mexico, oddly enough, and he was shivering feverishly outside Canada's door. Canada rushed to open the door for the Spanish speaking country, and Mexico happily walked in. He sat down on the nearest couch and started to warm up while Canada closed the door.
Canada was surprised to see the smaller country so far north. He hardly handled the temperatures in the States, let alone Canada. He looked towards the Mexican questioningly, "What brings you so far north? You're going to freeze."
Mexico slowly looked towards Canada, still shivering but not nearly as badly, "I wanted to talk to you."
What was it that this former Spanish colony found it so dire to speak with the former British colony? What could be so important to risk his own health? Canada went to grab a blanket for him to warm him up, and sat on a couch beside the one Mexico was sitting on, "What is it?"
The Mexican paused, almost seeming to gather his thoughts before he spoke, "I... I am not sure how to say it or bring it up..." He laughed nervously, almost unsure.
Canada nodded, encouraging the Mexican to continue. He didn't want to push him, but was quickly becoming anxious. Was it bad?
Mexico waved his hand, almost brushing the thought away, "No, no. Never mind. It's nothing. Forget about it."
Canada stared down at him, both confusion and concern across his face. What had the country beside him previously want to say, spend so long just to get here, and decide to not say it in the end? Why go through it all just to second guess yourself? Canada's curiosity was starting to get the best of him, but he didn't want to pressure Mexico further. He hadn't seemed sure to begin with.
"Okay. If you want to tell me some other time, you can! Don't feel pressured, though." Canada said.
Mexico looked up at the maple leaf country and smiled, "Hopefully I will." He walked to the door, and Canada let him out, closing the door behind him.
Canada just stared down at his feet, thinking over what just happened. It happened so quickly, and ended so abruptly. His mind raced through all of the possible things the Mexican may have wanted to say, but stopped himself. He was overthinking it and getting anxious. The last thing the Canadian wanted was another panic attack.
He walked over towards the porch door to stand out there again, but changed his mind. He decided to focus on something to keep his mind off of what Mexico wanted to say. He opened his phone and starting texting America.
Syrup Addict: Hey, could I come over to your house? If you don't mind, of course.
South Canada: Sure. Was bored anyways.
Syrup Addict: Thanks! Be there in a few.
South Canada: Sounds good.
Canada closed his phone and fell on his couch, laying there. He eventually got up though, and headed to America's place.
---
Once he made it to America's house, he got out of his car, locked it, and went to the door. After knocking a bit, it opened to reveal a tired America.
"Salut." Canada greeted his older brother.
"Sup..." America replied, "Why'd you want to come over in the first place?"
Canada paused for a moment. He wasn't sure if he wanted to tell America the events with Mexico, but he didn't exactly want to lie either, "Just some things on my mind. Wanted to take my mind off of it." He said awkwardly, an odd grin across his flag.
America stared at him suspiciously, but didn't feel like asking about it, "Okay, works." He opened the door wider to let the tall country in, and closed the door behind him.
The Canadian walked into the large house. He always thought of it as ridiculous, but had to admit, it was nice. He decided to sit on the carpet, Indian style, and watched as America stared at him as though he had grown another head.
"Really? The carpet? Indian style?" America laughed, "You're weird." He went over to a couch, and sat down, turning on the television.
Canada ignored him. He was comfortable.
After a bit of silence, Canada decided to bring up Russia again and how he got to meet the newer country. He wanted to be a bit more careful about it, though, as to not piss off America before he even opened his mouth.
"I got to meet a new country yesterday." Canada started with.
America didn't look away from the television. He didn't seem surprised at all, which mildly amused the Canadian, "Hm? Who is it?"
Canada knew this would be the difficult obstacle to get around, so he started talking about Russia indirectly, "He is definitely nicer than he appears. He's all tall and emotionless, but when you get to know him, he's actually pretty funny and kind." He took a deep breath, "His name is Russia-"
"You talked to Russia?" America stared at him in disbelief, "He let you, the brother of myself, talk to him?"
"Well, yeah, and he was really nice-!"
"Is he now?" America, as expected, started to get fired once more, "Stay away from him. Or else." He growled under his breath.
"But, listen, dude-"
"No, I want to protect you. I don't want you to... To..." He trailed off, lost in thought.
Canada looked at his brother in confusion, "To... What?"
"To fall in love with him."

Aaaaaand cut
Slight cliffhanger, sorry, but oh well-
Quick question for yinz though, what do you think Mexico wanted to say to Canada? He'll say it eventually, but I just wanted to hint to some future plot points I suppose-
Probably won't be working on it for awhile though due to things in real life, so I'll hopefully get another chapter out in either one or two weeks? We'll see.
Hope you enjoyed!
