Chapter 23- In Which They Adjust

Pan sighed as she leaned against the counter and looked at the cookies that needed decorating in front of her. They were shaped like flowers, and her job was to put the icing on them in smooth, pretty patterns. Marron had shown her how to use the tools, but, she wasn't confident in her skills since she had no memory of using them.

"Pan," Marron said as she walked back into the kitchen after checking on Kiba and Sasuke in the living room. "You'll do amazing," she told her. "You always do."

"Don't I have a reference or something I can look at?" Pan asked.

"You just freehand it," Marron told her. "That's why so many customers love cookies."

Pan let out a sigh through her nose. "I still can't believe I'm a baker..."

"Honestly, it surprised everyone too when you said that it's what you wanted to do," Marron said. "You has always been so focused on training and fighting before."

Pan nodded slowly. "I know, it's weird, right?" She let out a small laugh. "Truthfully, if it hadn't been for a little bakery I worked at when Trunks and I landed on Vegeta-Sei, then I probably wouldn't be doing it. It's strange, I never thought of baking much before then but when I was there and I was baking, it felt nice. It reminded me of home..."

"Well, it's something you have a natural talent at, just like Chi-Chi," Marron smiled.

"Mama and Papa are doing well, right?" Pan asked. She missed them both dearly.

"Oh yes," Marron nodded. "They're watching Sasuke and Kiba this upcoming weekend. They love those boys."

Pan felt herself smiling softly. It was a relief her parents were still doing well. She couldn't wait to see them!

"Okay," she said as she focused her attention back on the task ahead. "Time to work."

Trunks opened the door and was instantly attacked by Kiba and Akamaru. He sidestepped the dog, trying his best to not get fully attacked by the huge fluff-ball as he helped Kiba jump into his arms.

"Welcome home, Daddy!" Kiba greeted with a smile.

"Yeah," Trunks smiled back at him. The shock of having a kid was already worn off, and he found himself enjoying it. Had had always wanted to be a dad. "I'm home."

He held Kiba as he walked through the foyer and into the living room where Pan just walked in as well. She gave him a small smile that made his heart pound.

"Welcome home," she told him.

"Yeah," he smiled back. "How was your day?"

"It was good," she nodded. "Marron tried to tell me everything that I'm already supposed to know but I feel like a lot of it has to do with the experience that I just don't have yet. How was your first day as a police officer?" She asked as she walked over to him.

"It was good," he told her. "Thankfully I didn't have to chase any bad guys today," he smirked.

"Daddy's good at chasing the bad guys," Kiba said.

"I bet he is," Pan agreed with a nod. "I'm assuming you change into your uniform at work?" She raised a dark brow.

Trunks glanced down at his casual clothes. "Oh, yeah," he nodded before he smirked at her. "Was you wanting to see me in my uniform, Panny?"

Pan gave him a coy smile. "Maybe," she said before she turned around and walked towards the kitchen.

"She's going to be the death of me," Trunks muttered.
