The beach house was empty, besides the exception of a crying pink gem called Spinel. She thought she had it right. She thought she felt loved. She was wrong. She saw how panicked Pink Pearl got when she was confronted by Steven's question. During that moment, Spinel's entire world shattered around her. All she could do now was cry.
She was sitting on the couch, with her arms wrapped around her several times as a big hug. It didn't really comfort her, but she tried. She sobbed, and let out shaky breaths. All she wanted was a friend. A true friend, someone who could have been her best friend.
No wonder no one loves you, Spinel thought to herself. Look at yourself... crying like a baby! You don't even know if she meant it! But now... after you pushed her away like that... she surely HATES you! You deserve everything that's happened to you...
you're a DEFECTIVE...
WORTHLESS...
LOVEL-
Without warning, there was a loud and sudden roar, causing Spinel to jump out of her seat. She snapped back to reality, and shook her head.
"What was that," she whispered.
"Raaaawwr!"
There it was again. But who, or what, was causing it. Out of the corner of her eye, Spinel saw a glimpse of a flash of light. She got up, and rushed to the window. She gasped with fear, and shock. The light came from Steven, he must've summoned his shield. But that wasn't what surprised her. What shocked her was the huge corrupted gem confronting Steven!
I thought Steven I corrupted all the corrupted gems on Earth, Spinel thought. She was right, Steven did heal all the corrupted gems. With that in mind, where did this one come from?
Even though she was scared. Even though her legs were shaking with fear. Spinel knee she couldn't sit back and watch Steven, possibly, die. She had to help!
She opened the door, and made her legs into a spiral, then sprung off the balcony, over to Steven. He was being hit by the monster, but he protected himself with his shield. Spinel saw this as an opportunity, and nosedived onto the monster's back. It whales in pain, and it backed up an inch or two from shock.
Spinel used her hands to leap off the gem, and land next to Steven. He was still kneeling with his shield up, slightly out of breath.
"Thought you might want some help," Spinel smirked, holding out her hand to help Steven up.
"Hehe, yeah. I guess I could," Steven laughed, taking her offer in assistance. "Thanks."
"Don't thank me yet!"
As if on cue, the corrupted gem shook it's head, and stared at it's targets. Now, since she was face to face with the monster, Spinel could take in all it's details. It had pink fur everywhere on it's body, different hues of course. It's body resembled that of a bird, but more monstrous. It had one black, lifeless eye, on the right side of it's face. And the next details, is what made Spinel's heart sink. The gem's left eye... was cracked! Then, as Spinel looked up, her eyes widened, and her grin fell. Her assumption was right. It's gem... was a pearl... Pink Pearl's pearl!
"P-Pinky," Spinel said in a shaky tone. "No... No no no-what happened?! Who did this to you," Spinel cried, breaking into tears.
The monster gave a furious roar back in response, not understanding the pink gem. The creature blasted into the air, going high into the night sky, then nosedived back down. It was aiming for the two Crystal Gems!
Steven quickly bubbled the two of them. As Pink Pearl grew closer, he held strong. The hit was a hard one, and if he dropped his shield, Spinel would surely shatter; and he could surely be killed! He cocked his head back at Spinel, fighting to keep the bubble up. Spinel was on her knees, crying. She was staring up at Pink Pearl's new form, with wide, sad eyes.
"Argh! Spinel... now really isn't the time for this," Steven said through breaths. "I need you to snap out of it! You said you were going to help, now would be a good time please! Spinel?! Spinel?!"
Spinel just sat there, on her knees, listening to every thought that popped into her head. You caused this somehow! Look, you turned her into a monster! You should have corrupted, you're the true monster! You deserve to be shattered by your friend!
"NO," Spinel screamed, banging her fists on the ground.
The force was so impactful, it caused Steven and the corrupted Pearl to wobble. Steven fell to the ground, his bubble dissipating. Pink Pearl, however, did not fall. Her wobble was more like an elegant dance, just like a Pearl would do. She kept her balance, and once she regained it, she stepped closer to the out of breath hero.
While he lay on the cold sand, Steven took in quick breaths. He peered up at the creature, and back at Spinel, then back at the creature. Spinel wasn't going to be able to help right now. She was too lost in her own crazy imagination. And no one else was coming! It is only up to Steven to save Pink Pearl... or is it?
Steven shakily got to his feet. Dizzily walking towards Spinel, he drew out his shield. He could hear the corrupted gem rushing closer. When the time was right, he quickly turned around, and threw his shield at the beast. It hit her point blank on the beak, causing her to fall to the ground, slightly dazed.
Ceasing the moment, Steven continued his dazed walk to Spinel. Once next to her, he kneeled next to her, and wrapped his arms around her in a hug.
"I... believe in you," he said through breaths. "I know we can save her... but I need your help... so... please... trust me."
With these words, Spinel hugged back. The bird like gem started to wake up. It was getting up, when POOF! A cloud of smoke appeared where Steven and Spinel once sat. Now, instead of two gems, there was one! One fusion, with two gems!
"Trust me Spinel..."
"I trust you..."
"Because we..."
"Because we..."
"Are a Crystal Gem! And the name's... PINK AMAZONITE!"
