"I'm glad we could hang out today, Suni~" Delilah chuckled softly and gently nudged the boy. She then took a sip of her coffee and walked beside Sunil as they entered the park.
"Yes! I am glad too," Sunil smiled nervously. "Vinnie was apparently busy today so I'm glad I have free time now," he nodded and took a sip of his own drink.
"Oh yeah. I heard Shahrukh invited him to dinner or somethin' like that," Delilah shrugged. Hearing that caused Sunil to spit out his coffee, and he started getting into a coughing fit. Delilah's eyes widened at the other and she helped pat his back. "Woah. You alright, lad?"
"He— What?" Sunil rose a brow. "I mean... I guess that's fine, but that makes me worried. Vinnie is too innocent to see that Shahrukh is just using him."
"You think so?" Delilah tilted her head. "I dunno. They seem to be warming up to each other and gettin' close and all that. Shahrukh seems nicer to him than anyone else and all. But, maybe that's a good thing. Keepin' each other busy, y'know? Otherwise, I wouldn't have that much time to spend with you~" she purred and linked arms with Sunil.
Sunil's heartbeat quickened as he felt Delilah lean into him, but he then glanced down at his drink. "I suppose..." he spoke quietly.
Vinnie and Shahrukh? Together? Is that what Delilah was implying? No way. They would be terrible for each other. I have to protect Vinnie from him.
"Wait, you don't want me to hang out with Vinnie that much?" Sunil suddenly snapped out of his thoughts as he processed what she said.
"Hmm... sorta, kinda, not really," Delilah spoke, her accent making it difficult to understand what she was getting at exactly. "Well, it's like this, Ducky: you're both pretty close and all that yeah? If you two keep spendin' all your time together, when are we going to spend time together, right?"
"Oh... I see," Sunil rubbed the nape of his neck. He didn't even realize just how much time he spends with Vinnie. It was just natural to him since they were the bestest of friends. "So you're saying it's good for Vinnie to hang out with Shahrukh because it'll keep him busy, and it gives us a chance to also be together?" He rubbed his chin.
"Exactly," Delilah giggled and poked his nose. "Plus, it's probably better that way what with Vinnie bein' all jealous because he saw us kissing at the Fall Fair and all."
That's when Sunil stopped in his tracks.
"Wait... he what? He saw us???" Sunil looked down at Delilah, and she lifted her head.
"Well yeah. Thought you knew that. I saw him after we kissed and gave him a lil' wave," Delilah shrugged. "Why? What's wrong?"
"He didn't tell me he saw us!" Sunil smacked a hand to his forehead. That detail would've been nice to know. He wondered why Vinnie didn't mention it at all, and wondered why Vinnie pretended to act surprised and happy for him when he told him about the kiss at the fair. Great. He didn't want to be reminded of or re-live the small drama that occurred after the Fall Fair.
"Suni, it's alright," Delilah placed a hand under Sunil's chin and turned his head towards her. "Aren't you two fine, anyways?"
"Well... yes..." Sunil relaxed some. Right. That drama was over with. Vinnie wasn't jealous. Vinnie was just upset he got ditched, that's all. That's what Vinnie told him at least...
"Hey look, it's your orange and pink friend," Delilah suddenly pointed out, and gestured towards the duck pond.
"Huh?" Sunil shook his head to snap himself out of his thoughts, and looked over to where Delilah was pointing. Sure enough, Russell and Minka were walking together and eating some food. "What? Are they on a date?"
