I took the pistol Silver handed me, and stood by his side silently. The other pirates took up their pistols, but before they were able to shoot us, gunshots rang through the air, and I smiled in relief when I saw my friends emerge from the trees. Livesey quickly ran to my side and cut the rope off of me. Silver was speaking, but I tuned him out as I sat on the ground trying to calm down. However, Smollett suggesting that they should kill Silver made me stand up quickly.
