"You've got to be kidding me." I sigh, kicking my broom across the room in anger.

"Calm down (y/n), you'll only make it worse for yourself." Advises an always cheerful Petra, who was concentrating on wiping down the windows.

"But it's not fair. Captain always give me more work, never any of you." I complain.

"Yes but it captain says you clean," Started Eren, making his way across the room with his very own broom.

"You clean." Eren and Petra finished in sync. With a sigh, we carry on working, between a mix of small talk and a comfortable silence.

"Whooo~ we're finally done." I cheer, plopping my aching body onto a bed.

"Not just yet." Reminds Petra. "We've still gotta check in with capt-

"You call this clean." Scoffs captain Levi, leaning on the doorframe.

"Captain." Squeals Petra and Eren in sync, flying to their feet to give him a perfect salute. Inwardly rolling my eyes, I follow their lead.

"This room is filthy, do it again." Snaps Levi, a lock of complete disgust on his face.

"How?" I ask, with a sudden burst of courage.

"Excuse me?" Questions Levi, his eyes squinting at me.

"How is it dirty? If you told us, then we can make sure that the next time you check, that the mess is gone."

Pushing himself off of the doorframe, he makes his way towards me. "Ral, Jaeger, you're done for the day." They both scurry on out,

Knowing Levi, I'd expected a fist, or foot to the face. But he kept the same smirk on his face with every step he took towards me. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't at least a bit attractive, so as he neared I couldn't help becoming bashful. My cheeks begin to burn, as I struggled to maintain eye contact. I began nervously shifting my weight from one foot to the other in anticipation of his next action.

BANG! Petra's dirty, water filled bucket went soaring across the room. It landed with another clatter, as the water began spilling out, seeping into the wooden floorboards.

"Clean." Demands Levi, helping himself to a seat on the bed.

Sighing, I grab a dirty rag and begin scrubbing. Sneaking a glance, I can see Levi sat with his legs crossed, making sure I was cleaning to his standards.

This wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Levi made a habit out of making me clean for hours after the others, and every time he would dismiss everyone else and sit with me himself. Over the months this had been happening for, our awkward silence progressed to comfortable ones. Our small talk slowly evolving into meaningful conversations.

I realised there was a lot more to Levi then he let one, and he earned himself another friend.

But I was starting to get tired of this excess cleaning. If he was that desperate to talk to me he'll have to get the guts to ask me to meet up with him outside of training. So I had a small idea to try and see his reasons behind keeping me cleaning for the extra ideas.

"There captain, done." I snap, raising to my feet.

"Hmm." He hums, beginning to stroll around the room, trying to find any mistakes.

I stand there proudly, knowing there was no more work the captain could make for me. Until a heard a huge crashing sound. Spinning around on my feet, I see an old dresser has been pushed down, not only breaking it, but revealing all the dust and mould that clung to the back of it.

"Whoops. You should probably start on that." Said Levi, keeping his poker face.

Sighing, I clean and reorganise and rebuilt the dresser to the best of my abilities.

Sweat dripping down my mucky ponytail. "There, done." I snapped, sick and tired of his games.

"We'll see about that." Levi said, beginning to pace the room again.

"No." I snap.

"No?" He repeats, seeming intrigued by my second burst of confidence.

"This place is as clean as fucking possible." I start. "If it's not up to your standards then do it yourself. I've been cleaning all morning, whilst you let Petra and Eren go. It's not fair." Feeling this surge of adrenaline, I carry on. "I know I'm not your favourite, far from it, but you can't treat me as some slave."

I surprise a smirk, as Levi looks shocked at my outburst. Maybe if he thinks that I think he hates me, he'll tell me why he really keeps me behind.

"Listen here you insubordinate little brat." Seethed captain Levi, as he made his way from across the room to me. "I am your superior, and you will do whatever I tell you to do. Understand?"

I cringed as instead of some half-hearted confession, I'd just managed to get myself into even more trouble. Although Levi wasn't tall he was still just as terrifying as Erwin. His eyes narrowed into slits, followed by a hardened jaw in anger. "So if I tell you to clean, your are going to follow my orders."

"Yes sir." I squeaked

A small smirk tugged at Levi's lips. His head cocked to the side slightly, as if I was some strange animal he was trying to figure out. "You're too easy to read (l/n). You're going to have to be smarter then that." He chuckled, sitting down again.

I sighed, my lips tugging into a defeated smile. Damn, I really though I had him.
