“Rin-chan over here” my friend, Chisaki, called as she ran towards the playground.
“Heh, heh wait for me Chi-chan” I laughed as I ran after her.
My name is Rin Kannagi,
I’m seven years old and I’m an orphan. I’m not really sure what it means, but all I know is that my parents, who died two years ago, are gone now and I was placed here, Children’s Care Orphanage.
“Rin-chan, Chisaki-chan” we both looked back “it’s time to eat” Chisaki and I looked at each other, and smiled.
“Let’s go, Chi-chan” I smiled as the two of us ran off towards the orphanage and to the cafeteria.

We sat at the table that was near the window, I sighed.
“What’s the matter, Rin-chan?” Chisaki asked with concern in her voice.
“Huh? Oh, it’s nothing, I was just day dreaming” I gave her a fake smile.
“Oh, okay then” Chisaki said with a shrug and continue to talk with the other girls, suddenly someone placed their arms around my neck.
“H-hey! Get off of me!” I shouted as I turned around and sighed in annoyance. Masahiro, a boy whose parents abandoned, smiled down at me and winked.
“Hm? M-Masahiro!” Chisaki blushed
“Hey Rin” he smiled as I growled rolling my eyes.
“What do you want?” I shrugged him off
“Come, play with me and my friends. We’re playing a shooting game and we want you to play with us.” he smiled
“He means him, he wants you to play with him” one of the boys teased
“S-shut up” Masahiro blushed, I sighed noticing a hurt look in Chisaki’s eyes.
“No.” I looked away
“Why?”
“I don’t need a reason” I crossed my arms
“I-I’ll play with you, M-Masahiro” Chisaki, who twiddled her fingers, timidly looked at him.
“No, I want Rin to play with us” he sighed and left with his group of friends. Chisaki peered at the floor and sighed, she always liked Masahiro ever since he opposed her against a bully.
“Chisaki…” I watched as tears fell from her eyes, she quickly looked up wiping her tears.
“I’m alright, see” she smiled, but I could tell it was fake. I knew deep down she hated me, and at times I would catch her glaring at me. I would always ignore it convincing myself it was only my imagination. I tried to act like a loser hoping that she would like me, but even so, I still stood out. I looked away and sighed getting up from my seat.
“I’m going outside” I quickly ran away.

I ran outside and sat on the swing thinking to myself, when I realized a group of people walking towards me. I looked up and saw Chisaki, and her group of friends, she looked different.
“Chisaki” I smiled jumping up from the swing, abruptly I got pushed to the ground “Chisaki?”
“Shut up!” she shouted as she kicked me on the side of my stomach causing me to gasp for air.
“W-what are you doing? That hurt, Chi-chan” I shouted
“Don’t ever call me that!” my eyes widened as an image popped up in my head, it was my mother shouting at me. “I hate you!” tears began to form “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! I hate how people praise you just because you’re good at everything, I hate how that everything I have you take away from me, I hate everything about you!” She constantly kicked me “why does everybody like you?! Why do they always give you everything? I mean, we’re here too, right?!”
