Chapter 24

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Mia was sitting in her wheelchair by the window side and staring at the rain.

"I hope Jungkook is not having a hard time. He hasn't replied to any of my previous text messages", Mia thought to herself.

While Mia was lost in her thoughts, the doctor entered the room.

"Good morning Mia. How are you feeling today morning?", asked the doctor.

" Feels like something is missing in my life", replied Mia laughingly.

"I can understand that. Now you better put that wheelchair away. If you are up and walking, you may leave within 2 days", said the doctor happily.

"Thank you, doctor. I will try that outside today", replied Mia.

She was all excited about the thought of leaving the hospital and getting back to college. Later when the rain stopped and the sun was shining bright, she stepped out of the hospital in her crutches. She walked slowly and sat down on a bench.

"This feels so good. It's been so long since I have been outside. Should I try walking without the crutches? I feel so unsure.", Mia thought to herself doubtfully. Suddenly she noticed many elderly people talking to robots. These robots were specially designed to provide aid to the lonely patients admitted to the hospital. The robots had pre-recorded answers to the most common questions. While watching this, Mia went up to the counter and registered her name to have an hour chat with the robot. After a few minutes, a robot walked up to her and sat beside her on the bench.

"Hi!!!!! My name is Mia. What's your name?", greeted Mia politely.

"I am Kookie. How are you doing?", asked the robot.

"Hmmmmm!!!!!!", sighed Mia and looked away.

"Your tone has elements of sadness and loneliness", replied Kookie.

"Wowwww! You are impressive. I like you", said Mia in excitement.

"Thank you", answered Kookie.

"It's just that I got into this hospital after an accident and I ended up with these crutches. I don't have the courage to stand up without it. It's a kind of fear that has been haunting me for the past few weeks. I should be insane to narrate all of this to you and expect a genuine answer", said Mia holding her head with her hands.

"It's okay to do your best and fall down now since you won't regret not trying it", answered Kookie. Mia was shocked at the answer and she replied back to Kookie with a bright smile,

"I wish you were a human. Those words meant a lot to me."

"Thank you", said Kookie.

After thinking for a while, Mia put away her crutches and said,

"Do you want me to entertain you today since you are the one who gives hope and happiness to people?"

"Entertainment?????", asked Kookie in confusion.

"You can stand at the other end of the road and I will try walking towards you", said Mia.

Meanwhile, Kookie got up and walked towards the other end of the road. Slowly Mia tried getting up and she smiled back at Kookie.

"Yeaaaaa!!! I stood up. Did you see that?", yelled Mia excitedly.

"Of course I see you since you are right in front of me", said Kookie.

"You seem to talk like someone I know", said Mia and Kookie choose not to answer that.

She began walking towards Kookie and suddenly she slipped on the water lying on the ground.

"Help!!! Help", yelled Kookie.

"Oh my God!!!! You are embarrassing me. I am alright", said Mia after regaining her balance.

"I was watching you fall. It hurts", said Kookie.

"You gave me the courage and now you are being overprotective. I guess robots do have a heart made of gold(metal)", said Mia jokingly.

A few minutes later Mia walked and reached Kookie. She was overjoyed to make it till there and she hugged Kookie tightly and said,

"Thank you for today."

Kookie wasn't speaking anything and upon hearing no reply she looked at her watch and said,

"Oh nooo!!!! I didn't realize that one hour went so fast. I guess you won't be speaking anything more. But I will show you one final thing. I will walk back to the bench. I at least want a good image of myself to stay in your camera", said Mia and started walking back. While she almost reached the bench but she fell down unconsciously. Her eyes closed instantaneously and the last thing she heard was a familiar voice yelling Mia.

A few hours later when Mia opened her eyes, she was laying on the bed and Ashley and V were standing next to her.

"How are you feeling? I heard you walked on your own. We can go home tomorrow", said Ashley happily.

"What just happened to me?", asked Mia.

"You had a minor concussion due to overexertion. But the miracle is that your body is perfectly fine", said V.

"Ohhhhh!!!! Where is Kookie? I left him alone", said Mia in concern.

"Who is Kookie?", asked Ashley.

"Hey, Ash!!!! You know the doctor had mentioned about the robot. It's been safely put away for maintenance. Something happened to it during this incident", said V.

"I hope he is alright", sighed Mia.

"Seriously!!!!! You haven't hit your head, have you? You are talking about it like a living thing. Get some rest, Mia. I will be here if you want anything ", said Ashley with a smile.

After a while, V said goodbye to both of them. He walked outside and was waiting for the taxi, suddenly he got a call from Jungkook.

"Hello, Kookie!!!!!! You did well today", said V in a heartwarming tone.
