Warning: harsh words
Ship: Finland x Sweden
Word count: 906 wordsÅland sat quietly in his seat as the uncomfortable silence filled the room. He tried to advert his attention by focusing on eating yet his father's glares towards Sweden was distracting him.
Sweden tried to start up a conversation by nervously smiling as he looked up towards Finland. "So how are you?" He asked trying to seem as nice and confident as possible.
Finland gave him a glare before returning back to his food. Åland sat nervously still in his seat before trying to ease up the tension, "how are you?" He asked.
Sweden looked at the smaller boy with a gentle smile playing on his lips. "I'm good my boy, how are you?" He asked as he took a bit from his food.
"Better now that I defended him," Finland said bitterly as he played with his food. Sweden let out an exhausted sigh as he looked at the older country. "Can you please get over it? It has been more than 50 years since then," he said as he could feel slight shame rise in him.
"Yeah whatever you coward. Can't even stand up for yourself and join the enemy," Finland muttered under his breath with a sour look on his face.
Sweden gritted his teeth, "I had to do it for the sake of my people-" "for the sake of your people?! The Jews were being slaughtered yet you encouraged third Reich! You sent Estonia to Soviet knowing he would not make it! You gave Reich iron even though Britain begged you to stop because if you did the war would end! You are on selfish man!" Finland raised his voice as he could only see red.
"Yes I did those things but what if I had just been taken by nazi Germany? More people would be dead!" Sweden tried to defend himself as the shame was filling him up to the brim and bad memories filling his head.
"You risked the life of your own son to save yourself!" Finland finally screamed as he could feel his breathing get jacked. He was now standing up gripping the table tightly as Sweden still sat in his chair gripping onto his utensils just as tightly.
"I tried okay?! Sorry I wasn't good enough!" Sweden screamed in response as tears started to brim his eyes. "Tried?! You didn't even give it a thought!" Finland retorted with a nasty growl.
Meanwhile Åland has sunken in his seat as he held his ears trying to cancel out the screaming of his parents. Tears had started to fall down as memories flashed through his head. Memories he had tried so hard to forget yet it seemed to almost be impossible as they always found their way back.
Neither Sweden nor Finland could see the condition their son was in as they were to focused on their aggressive argument. They however quieted down as they could hear their son heaving while tears streamed down their face.
Finland was the first one to react as he quickly went to his son's side to comfort him. "Se on okei," Finland whispered as he pulled the younger into an embrace. Åland could feel himself calm down as there was no more screaming and because his father was holding onto him.
Sweden nervously walked closer only to get a nasty glare from Finland. "I think it's better if you leave Sweden," he said with a cold stare making the other frown.
He thought of talking back but retorted to stay silent as he grabbed his coat and was about to put on his shoes when he felt someone pull on his sleeve and he was pulled backwards.
He turned around to see Åland looking at him with a frown as tears flew down his cheeks. Sweden smiled softly as he wiped them away and wrapped his arms around the younger.
"Please stop fighting. It's in the past," Åland said with a shaky voice as he held his two fathers close. Finland looked at his son in surprise but after a while just held him closer.
"There is no such thing as a good option in a war. Only a lesser evil one," Åland said as he had calmed down. "We all tried our best and that what is important. Even though we were a bit late," he said with a slight smile as Sweden softly rubbed his back in comfort.
They all pulled away and Finland looked at Sweden with a nervous look. "I-" "no you are right. I was selfish and didn't try my best," Sweden interrupted Finland. "What is important is that things have become better and we're all safe. Right?" Sweden said as he reached out and placed his hand on the white and blue one.
Finland smiled softly at the other as he gripped Sweden's hand and pulled him into a hug. "I'm sorry too. I'm not going to lie I would have done the same thing if I was you," he said as he pulled away.
Åland sat behind them with a gentle smile and dried tear stains on his cheeks. "Are you friends now?" He asked with a hopeful expression. Sweden snickered at the younger and nodded, "if this old grumpy man agrees," he said as he pointed towards Finland.
Finland gasped dramatically, "I'm younger than you!" He said with a slight laugh. "But yes it's ok now."
