your pov

the blue light blasted blindly from the warp pad quickly settled into the nights pitch black darkness,
the dome was flushed with an unsettling stillness as the plants growing wildly within had closed for the night.
the familiar yet abrupt scenery change cleared way for all the forgotten things to rush back simultaneously. but by a long shot, the one troubling me most was the fact that charlie and eliza were left alone with no warning for over 72 hours

"are you okay?" steven sees my expression
"wh..wheres charlie and eliza?" at last, i catch my breath
steven didn't seem as concerned as i did, and sloppily followed me down the many flights of stairs into the kitchen
i looked in every room to no avail, they were evidently gone
in desperation, i rushed out onto the splintery porch and scanned the long strip of beach left to right, looking closely for atleast some sign of their safety.
but to my dismay, the brief search turned up result less.
the house hadn't been locked and there were no notes explaining their absence, worrying me even further
what if something happened? they got lost? the people from westbay came back?
steven calmed my silent worries and convinced me to eat, and admittingly he was right.. if they left it was probably by their own will.

after eating surely everything i could, i washed it all down with cup after cup of water, feeling more at ease now one of the lingering issues had been fixed
i slumped back down at the table with my head in my hands, thoughts of their confusion and worry cancelling out all else.

approaching thuds on the wooden steps closely followed by the familiar unpleasant noise of opening the door suffocated my worry with excitement, it was charlie and eliza!
i practically jumped up with relief before hurrying over to them, wasting no time and embracing the siblings with relief.
first i hugged the startled charlie and explained almost everything to him, trying to scare them with the blue diamond news was the last thing i'd wanna do
charlie hugged me back in return, lifting me slightly off the ground before apologising
"sorry for not locking the house, eliza really wanted to see the shooting stars pass"
i let go and looked down at the happy girl for a moment, then scooped her up and squeezed just as tight. she just giggled, not knowing the severity of the situation.
after talking for awhile and clarifying everything, i turned back to steven, but only to be met by the empty chair he was once sitting in

"i got a job"
i swing back around when hearing the news
"really?"
charlie nods, proudly
"that's so cool, where?" i press further
"uhhh i don't really know what it's called"
"describe it"
"well.. this pink guy came up to me and asked if i needed a job and i said okay, tomorrow's when i start"
"that's lars! you're working at his bakery?"
charlie gives an unsure nod
before i could say or ask any more, eliza politely interrupts the conversation
"can i sleep..?"
charlie nods with a smile before tucking his sister into bed as she whispers something in Portuguese, paired an exhausted look.
he answers in english
"we can't go back to get it, you know that"
"but i can't sleep well without him" she mumbles sadly
"you'll get used to it"
"..can i get a new one?"
"maybe when i get money"
"..what's the matter?" i bud in
eliza explains with sad eyes that she can't sleep without her beloved teddy bear
a thought pops into my mind as i remember one of the few possessions ive mastered at retrieving from within my gem, so with an uncertain deep breath, i do my best at summoning the right object from the shiny stone.

i grasp it by its worn down, furry stomach as the memories of the small dog like bear come rushing back
my father got him for me when i was barely younger than eliza.. i didn't need him anymore.
her eyes lit up when i revealed the bear, and charlie's eyes sparkled from the glow of my gem
"how did you do that?" he asks astonished
"i don't really know" i laugh whilst handing eliza the fluffy plushie which she almost instantly falls asleep with.
not too long after, charlie decides it was time for him to rest in order to get up early enough for work the next morning.
with no business being downstairs anymore, i quietly make my way upstairs into stevens room, regardless of having no real desire to sleep.
the room was completely empty of another presence which didn't really bug me, he probably just went somewhere for a bit.
