Ranting

I'm not trying to be rude or offend anyone in any way, shape, or form; but I really don't care who the song was intended for or any other celebrity-gossip-theory-crap.

I like Ed Sheeran's music.

I like his voice.

I like that song because of what it is and what it says, how it sounds and the story it tells. I couldn't give a shit what may or may not have been Ed's intentions when writing it.

It annoys me when people hear a potentially "risky" song and suddenly all they care about is the gossip around it, instead of just enjoying the music.
I see this happen all the time and it pisses me off.

It's like when a teacher has you read poetry and then tells you to over analyze every aspect of it to "learn more about the author and the events taking place at that time." People do the same with famous works of art.

Artists of all kinds create because they want to. They don't need an ulterior motive to paint, write, sing, compose, draw, etc.

Not every single one of Emily Dickinson's poems have to be about social isolation or loneliness.

Not every single one of Edgar Allen Poe's poems have to be linked to a family member or some other real person. Maybe he just enjoyed writing dark stuff for the sake of it, not because he had some sort of mental disorder.

I just really hate how people associate different types of art with having "deep and powerful meanings."

Mona Lisa smiled the same amount that every queen or other lady of royalty smiled in that time period. There's nothing scientific or truly historic about it.
Da Vinci was just a beautiful painter.

Kind of a long rant. It just really upsets me when people assume there's something hidden behind everything, when in truth it's just a measly old painting. (I'm not insulting famous art I'm making a point).
It makes me question if I should really be an artist or not... jk I suck at everything else it's kind of my only option.
