"Angeles, take a deep breath and calm yourself. I'm sure it's not as bad as you think." My voice is shaky, but I take a deep breath with her to help steady both our nerves.

"It's worse Nova! I'm ruined!" She cries throwing herself onto the bed and covering her face in the process.

"What do you mean ruined? Is your family in financial trouble?"

But instead of answering, she cries harder.

"Angeles, please tell me. I might be able to help, maybe if we speak to Xavier-"

"No! He can't know anything about this! Oh, the shame Nova. I've been so foolish."

"Shh, it will be okay. Just tell me what has happened and we can fix it together." I soothe rubbing her back.

But her cries get louder still.
Clearly, I'm not very good at this.

"Angeles, please don't cry. I feel retched when you are sad. Come now, tell me what happened."

Her voice is muffled as she says something, all I caught was don't be mad.

"I promise I won't be mad Angeles, there's nothing you could tell me that will make me mad."

Her body stops shaking, as she sniffs a few times wiping her eyes.

"Promise?" She asks, like an innocent doe.

"I promise."

Oh, I'm mad alright, I'm absolutely seething! But not at Angeles, at someone else entirely.
After sitting with Angeles for hours as she poured her heart out and unburdened her soul, I formulated a plan in my head for the best way to help her.

Because I have to help her, I cannot let this break her.

But the only thing is, it will break someone's heart in the process.

"Make yourself a bath Angeles, and try to relax. I will try my hardest to help you with this. I need to go and see someone though so I will meet you a little later."

Her freckled face is blotchy and tears stained as she blows her small button nose and nods. "Please don't tell anyone." She pleads as fresh tears fill up her eyes.

"I promise I won't tell anyone."

I try to find the strength and the courage to do what I'm about to do.
With each step of the gravel beneath my feet, I imagine how this will go. I hope for both our sakes it will go okay. Even if he will hate me.

Just don't cry Nova.

"Oh, Nova! I haven't seen you in quite a while! How are you?" Turning I see a radiant Nurse Sylvia smiling while holding a bottle of iodine in her hand.

I force myself to smile back as I kiss her cheek in greeting. "I'm very well, is Xavier in with a patient?"
As much as I like Nurse Sylvia and would enjoy catching up with her, my nerves are getting the better of me and I just need to get this over with.

"Oh, yes. He shouldn't be too long. Would you like me to inform him your here?" She asks, raising her eyebrow in concern. "Are you okay? You look rather pale. Are you poorly?"

"Oh no, I'm fine. I will just sit and wait till he's finished with his patient." I try to give a convincing smile, but it doesn't seem to work, so I take a seat in the empty waiting room, feeling equally empty inside.

I don't have to wait long, till the door opens and Xavier and a very tall but beautiful woman steps out. Just by her dress and the way her dark hair is pinned to perfection I know she comes from money. Her smile lights up her pretty face as Xavier thanks her for her help.
Which seems rather strange.
Then as if he can sense I'm here, his eyes connect with mine giving me a wide smile.
