Charlotte's POV

"I must say I never expected this from you, Charlotte."

I never expected this from myself either, trust me. At this moment I felt like some sort of hypocrite. The doctor stared at me with soft eyes, as if she was waiting for me to run out of the room at any moment.

"I honestly didn't either," I spoke softly. "but I decided to learn more information before I make any decisions."

She started at me before sighing.

"Why are you here, Charlotte?" She questioned.

"Didn't I just tell you?" The words came out much harsher than I meant. I spoke again.

"I just want to learn more information."

I felt uncomfortable under her stare. I felt as if she was scrutinizing me. She walked over to her desk and pulled out a pamphlet.

"This a pamphlet on the operation. It has the gist of what you need to know. Of course, if you have any other question you can always come see me. I can give you the number to the surgeon who would be performing your surgery so that you can get to know him better." She exclaimed rapidly.

I couldn't even get a word out as she sloppily scribbled a number onto a piece of paper and handed it to me.

"I still don't know if I should have it or not. Everyone seems to think I should, though." I mumbled the last part.

The doctor shook her head.

"Charlotte, you've always been this headstrong girl that didn't take any nonsense. Since when have you been so easily persuaded?" She asked with a disapproving tone.

I shrugged my shoulders.

"You can't make your decisions based on what other people want you to do. This is your life, so do what you want to do." She spoke again.

I stared at her for a second and nodded my head. She was right, I had to admit it. I needed to stop letting Henry and Mark get into my head.

"Thank you, Doctor. I'll contact you if I have any more questions." I stood up and gave her a small smile.

"Remember what I said Charlotte." She spoke, opening the door to the room.

I once again thanked her before walking towards the front entrance.

Once outside I started walking towards the bus stop. I'm sure if I called Mark to come get me that he would ask tons of questions. I always tell he my appointment days, and today was not one of them.

When the bus pulled up, I swiped my bus pass and sat down. I placed my earbuds in my ears and closed my eyes. It was rare I ever got time by myself to relax. It seemed as Henry and Mark were attached at my hip. Speaking of Henry, I still felt like I needed to apologize to him. Forget what Mark said.

Charlotte: Can we talk?

I switched my phone screen off and sighed. I honestly had no idea is Henry wanted to talk to me. I've know him for a long time, and he is known to hold grudges.

The buzz of my phone caused me to open my eyes.

Mark: hang out later?

I smiled, sent a quick text back to him, and turned my music up higher.

When I saw my stop approaching, I pressed the stop button located next to my seat.

The jingle of the bell alerted my entrance to Junk N' Stuff. There was no one at the counter which was strange considering Jasper is up there most of the time. I shrugged my shoulders and headed towards the elevator. I pressed the button and braced myself for the drop.

Once the elevator opened, I saw Ray, Jasper, and Henry sitting on the couch facing away from me. I was about to make my presence known until Henry spoke.

"Can you really blame me? Char has been so dreary and upset lately. It's kind of a downer." He stated.

"That's a new low, kid. Even for you." Ray said, sounding disappointed.

"I think it would be best. Plus I don't think I would be able to stand seeing her once her...illness gets worse." Henry replied.

"What are you guys talking about?" I finally spoke, stepping off of the elevator.

Ray and Jasper looked at me, then back to Henry.

"I can't let you do this, kid." Ray said.

"This doesn't concern you, Ray." Henry grunted.

"Look-"

"Can you just go upstairs so Charlotte and I can talk?" Henry interrupted Ray.

Ray looked like he wanted to say more but didn't.

He walked to the elevator, Jasper following close behind. Once the door was closed, I turned to Henry.

"Is there something you want to say?" I asked Henry.

He looked down at the floor, took a deep breath, and looked back up at me.

"I think our friendship needs to end here."

I promise it is going to make sense next chapter. I'm sorry for the cliffhanger (not really) but wow updates that aren't months apart. Someone remember this moment.
