Gavin scoffed as the door banged.

"The fuck are you looking at? Never seen an argument before? Fuck off." He barked at the sets of eyes fixed on him, and then all of them looked down.

'Of course we have', he could feel them think, and the humiliation of what else they might be thinking hit him.

"Damn bruh, what the fuck was that about?"

Elijah. There, behind him, Chloe next to him with his coat laying on her right arm, her left around his arm. Husband and wife, never looked more official, but somehow comforting to him. He wanted it, the comfort, so bad, and he was so mad at himself for running away from it.

"Me being an idiot get again, aren't you used to it?"

"What happened? Seriously. I'm not very close to Conan but I've been inside his head and he's got nothing but positive memories about you." Chloe said, narrowing her eyebrows with concern.

"That's the problem, he's disappointed in me and I'm not gonna just let that go, man, fuck the date, I'm doin that shit tonight, I'm done."

"You really are, huh?" Eli chuckled, putting an arm around Chloe.

"What shit?"

"The plan." the brothers said together, making her smile.

"Plan?"

"Long story." they said, together again, and then Elijah added, "I'll explain later."

"Something's telling me it's stupid and disasterous but okay."

"I'd say chase him," Eli said, pressing Chloe's shoulder in motion to the door, "but you've been doing that for a week or so now so you stay here for a few more seconds and come out after us, k? I'll check all coasts for ya-

"Relax, this ain't recess." Gavin said, watching the two walk out.

"As you wish."

Conan wasn't in the hallway when Chloe and Elijah stepped out. He was already in North's seafoam green autonomous car, watching the buildings rush by outside.

"Where are we going exactly?" She said, leaning on her side of the car.

"You tell me, you're the boss." He smiled.

"Oh excuse me Mr Smartest Machine on earth, I thought you're the boss." She smiled back, before winking and sitting upright, "Car, drive home. Be safe."

"Alright, North. I promise!" The car spoke back, a soft masculine voice that felt too human for a car.

"His name's Anthony. I know cars don't have the same conscience as us, but I pretend he does sometimes. That's mostly 'cuz I'm lonely and a bit 'cuz it's funny, naming your car Anthony."

"Not my favorite name," Conan chuckled.

North squinted at him, "Huh?"

"Anthony ain't my favorite name." He raised his eyebrows at her, then watching her squint harder, gave up and chuckled, "I'm suing one for sexual assault and-

"OH FUCK," she slapped both hands against the car before grabbing her ginger head of hair, "FUCKING HELL, I'M SO DUMB!"

Then both of them laughed, not like any of them felt like it.

The drive wasn't long, especially with the amount of talking they got to on the way, but throughout the whole thing, one thing kept plaguing Conan's mind. He wanted to ask her, ask her of her experiences, all of them. The eden's club, Markus and Simon, how she dealt with all of that and he wanted her advice, because she was so strong and so confident, and he knew if Gavin put him down, he'd be down forever. He'd go down. She kept up. Up, up, afloat. He was drowning already. Worse than in belle isle, because then Gavin was there to carry him out, and now, he was nowhere in sight. He wasn't sure if they'd gotten closer or if they'd faded away, he was so so scared, and he was so lost, and he wanted to be anywhere and everywhere out of the that car but nowhere else. He didn't want to go close to him but all he wanted was the be with him. Around him. In his arms, on his lips, with him, anywhere. But he couldn't. He knew he couldn't. Setting himself up for a heartbreak on such thin ice wasn't what he wanted. He wanted North's advice, is all.

As the car parked in front of a community housing complex for androids and North opened the door, he felt himself grow more and more impatient, and as the door slammed, he opened his, jumping up and almost screaming at her walking towards the gate,

"I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP IN SOMETHING BUT I'M TOO AWKWARD TO ASK!"

"Holy shit, I almost dropped my keys, cowboy! Calm down," she chuckled, "I know, I can see you trying to push out a question or two like little shits after a taco."

"You've never even had a taco, I-

"You'd be surprised to know how much people at Eden's club like to talk."

Chloe watched Elijah rush into the car, climbing in after to see him on his phone, typing away at something furiously.

"Eli?"

"Mhm, wait a sec-

"Elijah, what's he gonna do?"

"Shush," he looked up at her, putting a finger in his lips, then turned back to his phone.

"Okay, let me see that-" and suddenly her whole arm was pushing his away from the phone as her other had grabbed it,

"WHAA-

" 'Gavin, I don't fucking see him anywhere, Hank's here tho, you better make sure he's okay,' " she read, mocking his voice, " ' No, I'm not texting him until I'm ready to take responsibility for everything I've done.' " She continued, raising her eyebrows and pursing her lips, " 'Do you know what Hank'll do if you fuck this up? Shoot your balls off with an AK 47, that's what he'd do.' Oh damn, Hank's a daddy huh-

"Chloe, give me back my phone."

"Fine, have it. Just explain this whole fiasco to me please? I'm very, very confused."

"Babygirl-

"Babyboy. Explain."

"It sounds way cringier when you say it too, but okay."

"It always sounds cringe, is Gavin proposing or something?"

"What? Nah, he's barely even telling him he likes him and also needs alcohol to even say that."

"Wha? I thought they're dating?"

"Everyone and their mother thought they're dating, even Conan, and that's the whole problem."

"Oof.. good thing we never had that phase, huh?"

"Good thing," he smiled, "good thing. I love you."
