I ran across the dry grass laughing at the fact that Ms. Brosnan had chased me out of the school grounds, I wiped my forehead and lay down on the grass.
The trains shadow flew over me creating a shade
"There she goes!" I laughed scuffing up Scamps fur

As the train flew past I noticed a boy at the opposite side of the tracks
He was walking through the patch of grass with a school bag he tossed it to the side and sat down crosslegged

He had blonde hair and was around my age.

He was crying
"What's wrong?" I asked
His head snapped up.
"why are you crying?" I pondered beginning to stand up.

He stood up and wiped his eyes
"I'm not crying,I'm a boy,boys don't cry"

he said as if it was something I should know.
I had a confused expression on my face
"Yes they do" I said confident with my statement.
"No,they don't" he said looking annoyed
"But you were crying" I said he glared at me

"I told you I wasn't crying! I just had dust in my eyes from when the train was passing" he lied

"You were only walking up when the train had passed" I failed to stifle a giggle at his failed cover up.

"Are you some sort of stalker?" He said acting as if I were his younger annoying sister

"You'll never know" I said going closer to the track I took a step onto the metal and started to walk it with my arms held out in airplane mode.

"Hey get off there!" he called worry in his voice

"Why?" I smirked falling a bit but regaining my balance
"Ugh don't be stupid c'mon" he warned

"Bu-" I was cut off by the sound of the trains movements, horns, and the shock of being pulled to the grass

I looked up at the passing train as it tooted its horn

I looked beside me and saw the blonde haired boy breathing heavily just like i was

"T-thanks" I said still in shock by how close I was to dying
"Don't mention it" he said getting up
I copied his actions.

"You okay?" He asked dusting off his pants
"I thought you said not to mention it" i said he rolled his eyes and began to laugh

"What?" I asked slightly confused
"Nothing" he said scratching his neck

"Riley" I smiled.

"What?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Riley,my names Riley" I repeated

"Oh-Luke" he said sticking out his hand.

I interlocked our pinkies and made them shake a little muttering a High pitched squeak under my breath

I looked up at Luke and he was giving me a weird look I nodded to our fingers and he nodded warily and awkwardly and started squeaking awkwardly with me

"Wait-why are we squealing?"

"Because that's the noise a train makes"

"No it doesn't" he fought

"Well it does now" I concluded

He smirked a bit.

"Why were you crying?" I asked again

"I told you I wasn't crying!" He snapped

"My mom was right men need to sort out their priorities" I muttered giving him a 'sheesh' look

"Look can you just go I have stuff to do" he said raising his voice a little and sitting down next to his bag

"Not until you tell me why you were crying" I said sitting down next to him and the bag

Scamp and his three-legged self waddled over to me sitting in my lap

"It's nothing I'm just I- I'm a retard" he said

"That's a bad word! and no your not your just a bit grouchy" I said giving him a pat of the shoulder

Scamp licked his arm
"I know we shook pinkies and all but you don't need to lick me" he said sounding a bit uneasy and placing his fingers on the slobber

"That was my dog!" I laughed

"Oh sorry" he said joining in with the laughter.

"Why do you feel retarded?" I asked yawning causing him to yawn

"I just can't understand anything! It all looks like Chinese" he said taking out his maths book

"I accept" I muttered

"What?" He said lifting up his head confused

"I accept" I said clearly

"Accept what?"

"This challenge young one" I said placing my thumb on his forehead

"Your weird-" he said

I frowned slightly

"-but I like it" he finished,i smiles and opened his maths book and began to read through it

~

"So if I do it this way instead of that way-". He began

"It gets easier to do when you use these typed of formulas" I said

He closed the book and smiled up at me

"Thanks a lot" he smiled getting off the ground and putting the book in his bag

"Mention it" I said dusting off my clothes and getting up

"Don't you mean 'don't mention it'." he asked with a raised eyebrow

"But if you don't mention it then I won't be able to help you because you wouldn't have mentioned it" I explained

"No it means-you know what, never mind" he said shaking his head smiling

"Don't question greatness" I advised

"What makes you great"

" 'I',my friend almost died!" I said emphasising the 'I'

"But i saved you so that means i'm great" he smirked

I shook my head "no,you said not to mention it"
