"Give me that bowl, Beeba." Mujaheed ordered and Layla smiled before she passed it to him. And she stood beside him and watched as he expertly whipped the cream.
"Tan! Come and taste the batter before Beebo puts it in the oven, hurrryyyy!!!" it was as if he was waiting for her to call Tanzeel, because he was doing all he can to finish putting the batter into the can and place it in the oven, that way no matter how Tanzeel would try she couldn't bring it out.
Tanzeel rushed into the kitchen as if she had been waiting for that single call, and she ran to where they stood and smiled mischievously at Mujahid. "You're a life save Jaan, I love you." she pecked Layla's forehead and scooped the batter with a spoon.
"What is this Tan? I'm going to break your hand very soon. Beeba, how can you be this mischievous? I thought you love me?" he asked with pouted lips and the two ladies laughed at him.
"I love you Beebo, but it's Tanzeel on the matter. I can't not call her while I know how much she loves your unbaked batter. Sorry, but nor sorry." They laughed at him again and he watched as Tanzeel tasted it to her satisfaction before he put it into the oven and he looked at Tanzeel.
"Will you please give us the privacy we need?" Tanzeel looked from him then to Layla and she hurriedly ducked her head down.
Smiling widely, Tanzeel held Layla's right hand and smirked. "Layla Jaan, tell me, I heard when you were crying, how did you stop that easily? He hugged you right?" as if she touched her with fire, Layla instantly jerked away.
"No! Oh my god, No Tanzeel!" She was flushed, and Tanzeel looked at Beebo, he was flushed too. She didn't know when she burst out laughing.
"Calm down you all. Jaan, stop breathing heavily, don't overwork your little heart. Beebo, take a breath, you're going to suffocate yourself. It's nothing bad, atleast you guys tried until now. Oh yeah, privacy right? I'll be out." She rushed out of the kitchen and before she was out, she turned and yelled, "My dough shouldn't be burned all in the name of privacy please!"
When she was out, they both took a deep breath and released the laughed they didn't know they were holding. Mujahid looked at Layla and chuckled. "I should really come and marry you fast, I'll send Baba and his people tomorrow. I feel like I can't wait any longer. I was actually waiting for Mom to be back from her trip, but I truly can't wait. Tomorrow Jaan, I want the date to be set."
Layla looked at him with watery eyes and smiled, "But I won't be at home tomorrow, it's Ashraf's birthday remember?"
He nodded with a smile and tasted the whipped cream. "That isn't a problem, they're seeing Dad not you. Just tell Maami today. Okay? Beebo's wife."
She chuckled and fought her tears back, "Stop it, Beebo. How many months are we going to set it to? May be five?" he gasped, as if she said something that was truly forbidden.
"Five what? Beeba that's faaaar, it will feel like eternity. One month, I can manage." she laughed and nodded her head.
"One month, Beeba's husband." Before he could take in what she said, she quickly averted their topic of discussion into something else. "This isn't the colour you want? Why are you adding more colour, Beebo?!"
"We saw a birthday cake on instagram with Ashraf with this same colour and he said it looked beautiful, I want to make it to his choice. I'm a good chef, don't you know?" She laughed and nodded her head.
"Aye aye captain! I trust your handwork. Desserts aren't desserts unless Beebo is the baker." They went over to the kitchen island and sat down on the chair and she brought cookies and yoghurt for them.
