Light in the Dark

There was darkness.
Only darkness.
Drowning me,
Suffocating me,
Supporting me.

Nowhere to run.
The only way was down.
Falling deeper,
Deeper,
Deeper into the abyss.

It engulfed me,
Comforted me,
Accepted me,
Rejected me,
Deceived me.

Everything was dull.
I was numb.
Looking back at the colourful past,
Wishing to turn back the pages,
Just to feel your warmth once more.

Although forever will your hand be cold,
Your voice resonates in my mind.
Memories replay when I close my eyes.
Our distance is further than ever,
Yet you paint over my darkness.

There was darkness.
But not only darkness.
You are there.
Guiding me slowly,
Towards the newfound light.
