Jing Yi stared at Qiu Ling in a daze when he was pressed back down onto the chair and had to watch how Qiu Ling happily picked up his chopsticks again and wanted to continue to eat. "You ... you just want to continue eating?"

Qiu Ling glanced up and hesitated when he saw that his beloved hadn't followed his example and picked up his chopsticks. "Yes. Why? Are you still hungry? Was the rice not enough? Do you want some more vegetables?" He picked one up from his bowl and put it into Jing Yi's.

"No, I ..." Jing Yi opened his mouth but had nothing to say. He glanced back at the door and furrowed his brows. "What about those people?"

Qiu Ling stopped moving and also glanced at the door. "What about them?"

"Won't they ... won't they come up here?"

"Why should they?" Qiu Ling blinked his eyes as if he had really no idea. In fact, he just doubted they'd try. Obviously, he was much stronger than them and they seemed to have noticed that so they certainly wouldn't dare to attack his beloved any longer.

But looking at his face ... "Are you afraid?" Qiu Ling reached over and took Jing Yi's hand. "Don't worry about it. I won't separate from you for even a step! And if some bastard tries to attack you again, I'll take care of them!"

Jing Yi requited his look in a daze. Wasn't Qiu Ling normally not separating from him either? But speaking of defending him ... "What about your hand? Does it hurt?" He turned it around but couldn't see any injury. Huh? Had Qiu Ling used the other hand?

Qiu Ling tilted his head. "What about it?"

"You ..." Jing Yi reached out and took Qiu Ling's other hand, taking a look at this one as well. Nothing could be seen of any wound though. "This ... How could this be? Didn't you catch that blade with your bare hand?" He furrowed his brows, unable to comprehend. Naturally, he was relieved that nothing had happened to Qiu Ling but ... he didn't understand how.

"Oh, that. I used my nails." Qiu Ling turned his hand back and showed his nails. In actual fact, he had used his claws and anyway, if he utilized his scales, a sword wouldn't cause much of an injury. Unfortunately, he couldn't show Jing Yi. Who knew if it'd interfere with his beloved's trial if he did? So it was better to leave a few details out.

"Your ... nails?" Jing Yi looked at them. They looked ... just like normal nails. Maybe they were a little darker but that was all. How could one stop a weapon just with that?

"Uh ..." Qiu Ling looked away and then took out a sword from his spatial ring. "Actually, it's simple. Look at this!" He unsheathed the sword and then grabbed onto the blade. His nails and fingertips touched the surface but the palm of his hand was a good two fingers' widths away from the sharp edge.

"That doesn't look easy at all but ... as long as you're alright." Jing Yi heaved a sigh of relief and gave Qiu Ling a smile. He really wouldn't want to see him get injured. Especially not to protect him.

Qiu Ling happily put the sword away, smiling to himself. Look at this! His beloved was very worried about him. Obviously, he loved him very much.

The two of them continued to eat. Qiu Ling had already forgotten about the demonic practitioners but Jing Yi couldn't help but dwell on it further.

"Why do you think these people attacked us?"

Qiu Ling put down the chopsticks and put the dishes away, pondering seriously. "They were jealous of your beauty?"

"Uh ... No, I'm being serious."

Qiu Ling looked over his shoulder with an expression that said he was being serious as well but seeing his beloved's inquiring gaze, he made the effort to think about it a little more. "They seemed to have said something about a secret plan or something?"

"A secret plan? But what does that have to do with us?" He bit his lower lip. Had they somehow been a danger to that secret plan?

Qiu Ling tilted his head. "Oh. I think they also said that they couldn't let us return to the Yun Zou Sect to report about it. So maybe it's because of that. Their plan has something to do with the Yun Zou Sect." He shrugged his shoulders and then looked at the dishes again. Mn ... He hadn't made much so they had eaten everything. But there was still some uncooked rice. Maybe he should take that when they left? Anyway, these people had scared his beloved so they owed them something in return, right? And if they had rice, then even if they didn't find anything to eat one day, they could just take it out and eat plain rice. That was better than nothing.

Jing Yi stared at Qiu Ling unbelieving. This guy ... He had just said that these people might be scheming against their sect but he didn't seem bothered by that at all. Just where was he with his thoughts? Jing Yi had the subtle feeling that he might regret it but he couldn't help but tentatively call out. "Qiu Ling?"

"Mn?"

"What are you thinking about?"

Qiu Ling frowned and turned to him. "Do you think we should pack that rice when we leave?"

Jing Yi raised his brows. Alright, he had expected that Qiu Ling's thoughts weren't on the subject at hand but he wouldn't have thought that they'd be that far away. "Don't you think we should inform the sect? Maybe you could write to your Master?"

Qiu Ling blinked his eyes once again when he thought of that frowning guy back in the Yun Zou Sect that he hadn't seen in a while. "About the rice? Do you really think he'd have an opinion on that?"

Jing Yi gaped. Was he doing this on purpose? "No! Not on the rice! About these people and that they're likely scheming against the sect!"

"Oh. Well, I guess we could do that." He nodded and then put the left-over rice grains into his spatial ring, bag and everything.
