When Jing Yi woke up the next morning, he stared at the ceiling, feeling that Qiu Ling had probably been right. He had slept really well, much better than the few nights before. It seemed that nothing could beat eating a warm meal and sleeping in a bed.

He sighed and then turned to the side, wanting to see if Qiu Ling had already woken up. As a result ... he came face-to-face with the person he had been thinking about.

Qiu Ling's eyes immediately turned into little crescents and his lips curled into a bright smile. "Good morning, my love! Did you sleep well?"

Jing Yi stared at him and couldn't help but think that he had indeed slept well but he might not be able to do so in the future if this was how we'd be greeted the next morning. Didn't Qiu Ling feel that this was strange at all? He almost wanted to ask him for his opinion but then decided against it. Never mind. One shouldn't ask a question that they didn't want to hear the answer to. Otherwise, it really would be his own fault.

Jing Yi sat up and pushed the blanket away, brushing through his hair with his fingers. "It's alright. I think we should get up and be on our way then."

Qiu Ling gave a hum and also leaped up, putting on his outer robe and then rushing into the kitchen. Before Jing Yi had time to ask what he was doing, he could hear some sizzling and the smell of food wafted over. It seemed Qiu Ling didn't feel that it was a problem to take some more of the village's supplies.

Jing Yi sighed, put on his outer robe and then followed Qiu Ling over. He sat down at the table and watched him work quietly. He had already been surprised when he saw him cook over an open fire outside and even more so yesterday but even now, a sense of astonishment overcame him when he saw this.

He never would have expected it but Qiu Ling looked like he was really good at this and even enjoyed doing it. It really made him wonder just where he had learned to cook. Had he gone on many missions for his Master before? Was that why he had needed to learn how to cook himself? Or was it that his family had wanted him to learn?

He would've liked to ask but he was afraid of reminding Qiu Ling of what had happened to his family once again. He didn't want that so he stayed quiet and just watched Qiu Ling work.

Qiu Ling had no idea what Jing Yi was thinking but he felt very good at having his undivided attention. Ah, if only every day could be like this! Mn, come to think of it after his trial ended, it could actually be like this.

He would take Jing He to the dragon realm and then they would live together. Every night, they would go to sleep together and since they would be a married couple by then, he wouldn't even need to sleep in another bed but would be able to hold his beloved in his arms and hug him to sleep.

Then, they would wake up together the next morning and he could go and make something to eat for him. Maybe Jing He would also watch from like his reincarnation did right now, admiring his very varied skills. He might even give him a few words of praise when he finally got to taste the food.

Ah, that sure would be such a beautiful time! He couldn't wait for this trial to be over.

Looking at Jing Yi, he couldn't help but sigh to himself though. Jing Yi was barely fifteen. Considering how long humans tended to live, it would still take a long time before his Jing He would come back. The only way around that would be if he managed to make him cultivate faster and then ascend.

Mn, he should work on that while they were on the way to the village where his beloved's reincarnation had lived before. Anyway, it couldn't be that hard, could it? Even though he wasn't human, the dragons also had magic. And they also used spiritual energy for that. So what could go wrong? He just had to impart some of his knowledge to his beloved and then things would turn out well all on their own.

Qiu Ling finished cooking, filled the bowls and then brought them over to the table. He gave his beloved a bright smile while he inwardly wondered how we should go about this.

His beloved was very excited about seeing his village again and this was also a very important place for him to see. After all, he wanted to be able to speak about all of the things that were important to his beloved with him. It wouldn't do if he never saw that village. So he definitely couldn't start with his great plan before they went there.

But even then ... Could he just bring it up? Qiu Ling lifted his chopsticks in a daze, pondering how to go about this. He hadn't been able to answer his beloved's questions before so it would be strange if he suddenly gained such knowledge. And he could hardly tell him that he was a dragon! No, he had to find some other way to impart this knowledge on his beloved.

Well ... he first had to find out just how cultivation worked for humans anyway. Otherwise, if there was nothing he knew, there was nothing to impart either. Maybe he should call for Fu Min and have him investigate this? That would at least be the easiest way. But then that still left the question of how to tell Jing Yi without it seeming too suspicious.

Qiu Ling pursed his lips and furrowed his brows. What he needed was for this information to somehow come up without looking like it had anything to do with him. He needed ... some ancient scroll or some secret manual or maybe some sagely person who could —

Qiu Ling's eyes widened and he stared at the bamboo sprout that he had picked up just now in stunned silence. Why hadn't he thought about this before?! He could just bring back the grandfather!
