could u love me

i awoke from melancholic slumber
to the sound of your voice,
hazy like a thick fog
enshrouding me, enveloping me
in a way that was both comforting
and unsettling.
i wondered:
what do you want from me?

see, i dreamt of your soft curls
dancing in the wind, tucked gently behind your ear.
i dreamt of the way you looked right through me, body moving silently the way sunflowers do,
towards the sun.

and when the sun set, i walked you home.
we kissed under a broken streetlight.
i couldn't see your face
but i could see your eyes.
in the dark, in the dark
two emeralds glowing bright.

i whispered:
could you love me like the rains in december?
could you love me like your favorite sweater?

with raspberry lips trembling,
wanting, waiting,
i prayed:
could u kiss me forever?
