my achy breaky heart
worked tirelessly until it pulled us apart.
so hard to love, self-sabotage;
i wrapped my sorrows in impenetrable camouflage.

carelessly gave away my last dance,
and pretended not to see your heartbroken glance.
turned away from your late night cries;
my power over you, i rigorously exercised.

until you relented, under the caress of the moonlight,
ironed out your crippled wings, and took flight;
left me wishing we could go back to the start,
i wished from the deepest depths, of my achy breaky heart.
