“So what do you want to do tonight?” Harry asked, tangling his limbs with mine as we laid on my small bed.

I groaned. “Well, Daisy told me that Kappa Sigma is having another party-”

“Yeah, that sounds fun.” He cut me off. “I think they’re good luck. We found each other there and created this, maybe something special will happen tonight too.”

“I have to admit something to you.” I frowned. “I hate parties.”

“What?” He was clearly taken aback. “The Reina I met in Cancun was always drunk and ready for more. Everyone likes parties! Even I do and I sit there like a sober old man the whole time.”

“It’s just not my scene. I never went to any in high school so I never took a liking to them. I mean, it’s cool to have a few drinks now that I’m twenty-one, but the whole keg-stand public-make-out-session drinking-games kinda thing isn’t exactly my forte.” I explained.

“We can have our own public make out session so then everything will be good.” He waved off my denial. “Come on, babe. I want you to get to know my friends better and Ave will be there. It’ll be fun.”

I huffed in mock annoyance but finally gave into his pleas. I did my hair and makeup and put on a floral printed skater dress and black leather booties. To my benefit, Harry drove us to the Kappa Sigma house since he wouldn’t be drinking and I didn’t have to walk the whole way there.

The house was already packed with people when we got there, seeing that it was almost ten o’clock. Harry led me directly to the backyard, my eyes settling on Daisy amidst the crowd and giving her a quick wave before he continued to drag me outside. We reached the corner of the deck; the same place I had found him days prior. He sat in an empty chair towards the middle of the group and pulled me onto his lap.

“Hey, Ray. Good to see you.” Zayn greeted me with a smirk. Harry’s grip tightened around my waist. I shifted uncomfortably and gave him the brightest smile that I could manage.

“You too, Zayn.”

The group sat in silence for a while and I was confused on why Harry found these parties so fun when all they did was sit there. Some of his friends knocked back drinks while others smoke cigarettes and observed the party-goers around them. Harry was playing with the hem of my dress, making sure that no more of my leg was exposed than what needed to be.

A smile instantly pulled at my lips as I saw a familiar face approaching. Like always, Avery’s hair was wild, her makeup was thick, her loose, black cotton dress was much shorter than any other I’d ever seen, and her white Doc Martens were clunky. Avery looked in her element and it excited me to see a genuinely happy expression across her face as Louis guided her forward with a hand on her back while whispering something unheard in her ear.

She took a sip from her drink and giggled at whatever Louis was saying before even noticing the group. Her eyes lit up when they set on me and I sprung from my seat on Harry’s lap to pull her into a hug. She was careful not to spill her drink during our embrace and Louis stepped back to let us greet each other.

“Avery, you look gorgeous tonight.” I complimented her honestly.

“As you always do, Ray!” She returned with a smile.

“I missed you. It’s only been a couple days since we last saw each other but I feel like we have so much catching up to do.” I gestured discreetly toward Louis.
