Semester at Sea

chapter 3

Amala's Pov

I wake up in a tight hold with a leg wrapped around me. I turn my head to see that it is billie. Is it bad i have a sigh of relief? i don't think so, i like this. I really could get used to this.

I grab the hand that is on my stomach and i start tracing circles around it with my thumb and i play with her rings

"having fun?" i hear billie ask in a raspy voice cause she just woke up

"yes" i say as i turn over to face her "i slept so good last night" i say with a tiny smile

"oh yeah? me too" billie says as she puts her hand on my hip "you are comfy"

i blush a little

"do we have to get up?"

"just a few more minutes" billie says while covering us up with the comforter

after she does that, she scoots close to me holding onto my waist. basically spooning.

i finally wake up but this time not with billie. i sit up while looking beside me but i don't see her.

"billie, where-" i get cut off by singing and the sound of a ukulele coming from the balcony

wait a minute
let me finish i know you don't care
but can you listen
i came committed
guess i overdid it
wore my heart out on a chain around my neck
but now it's missing

i get up and i walk over there and stand by the sliding door that leads to the balcony. i see billie give a small smile

so I, think I better go
i never really know how to please you
you're looking at me like i'm see through
i guess i'm gonna go
i just never know how you feel
do you even feel anything

she puts the ukulele on her lap after that and she just stares out at the ocean.

"billie, i-. that was so- wow" i say while looking at her

"thank you Amala, i wrote it myself but it's not really finished yet" she says with a smile making her dimples pop out.

i just stare at her for a second and admire her beauty and what just happened.

"billie, you are insanely talented" i say while sitting on the floor next to her "after this semester, i better see that 'Billie O'Connell' is the next big thing. i bet you are gonna shine brighter than any other star out there bil" i say while turning my head to look at her

billie looks back at me

"If i wanted to become famous, i would want to be called 'Billie Eilish'. i think it sounds better

"it sounds nice" i say while resting my head on her shoulder

"Wanna go out? Maybe to the lido deck and just sit and watch the ocean. Or we can go up to the top level and go on the slides" Billie suggests while nodding her head at the last part

"Sounds cool, lets get changed"  I stand up and run to the drawer i have with all of my swim wear
