when changbin had finally left, the whole house instantly died down. it wasn't a lie that after the older left, hyunjin could already feel the emptiness inside him, knowing that he was alone once again.

he sighed at the thought of not being able to see the other for the next 20 hours and began walking away from the door, the disappointment written all over his face.

"hyunjin." the said boy turned to the direction where the voice was coming from and stared thoroughly at his own father who was standing just outside his office.

no emotions could be seen through his eyes, just only the hard stares and a silent yet awkward atmosphere was sensed between the two male.

then he finally turned around to the front, avoiding eye contact; he didn't do anything but only stand there quietly, waiting as seconds go by.

mr. hwang sighed and slowly walked to his own son, he didn't know what to do at this point but hoped that this would somehow bring a slight change in the relationship they have right now.

after all, the fear of not being able to talk to his son properly and have a close relationship with him was the thing that scared him the most. therefore, he was willing to change his ways.

"listen hyunjin..." he spoke once again, continuing to walk towards the young boy who didn't move an inch and was instead, standing still in the middle of the hallway. "about us..."

"like i said before, there's nothing for us to talk about." hyunjin finally spoke moments later. as much as he couldn't forgive what his father did in the past, he couldn't help but wonder if this was gonna keep going on for the rest of their lives or not.

despite all that, he had to admit himself that there was also a small part of him that actually wanted to change the awkwardness he has with his father but then, there was also a part of him that couldn't forget about the past.

let's just say, he was pretty much in denial. even though he knew that he couldn't just hold onto the past forever, he just couldn't help but not let go - it was the kind of person he was.

mr. hwang sighed deeply and looked down. "i know you don't want to talk about the past right now but i just really can't bare to not have a father and son moment with you any longer, just the thought of me not being able to spend time with you really scares me, i don't want our relationship to go down-"

"then why did you do that?!" hyunjin raised his voice, interrupting his father's words. mr. hwang took this sign and shut up, allowing his son to release all of the emotions he had kept inside him throughout the whole entire time.

"i'm really sorry hyunjin, i didn't know what came over me. i was so stupid to have done that, i hurt both you and your mother..."  his tone was filled with nothing but only regret itself.

the young boy bit his lips nervously the moment an image of his mother appeared in his mind, tears started strolling down his cheeks as he stood silently, not making any sound.

"thanks to you, mother left. i'll never forgive you." he growled, gritting his teeth together while his body shook at the thought of not being able to see his mother again.

mr. hwang sighed once more and looked up guiltily at his son, noticing how he was shaking before him. "please, hyunjin... i had a reason..."

"and what reason could that possibly be?!" the young boy cried out, angrily turning his whole body to finally face his father. the look on his face gave it all, a sharp but pained look, the sense of anger and hatred that filled his eyes.

the man stared at his son in shock, he didn't think this was how he was feeling right now. there was a lot of things he didn't know about him but what pained his heart the most was the sight of finally seeing how hurt he was.

"i can't say right now but i'm telling you, i had a reason behind it! please, trust me this once-"

"why should i trust you?! when all you did was lock me up in this despicable mansion for 18 years! i can't go out and live a normal life, you won't let me go to a public school, i can't make friends. do you know how much i've been suffering up to this moment?! it's painful, i feel so lonely... and you're almost never at home! you never tell me anything! so why should i?!" he screamed, all the emotions coming out of him.

he just couldn't stand it anymore, everything to him was just a lie wasn't it? his whole life have been a lie that he couldn't take it anymore and even nearly ended his own life.

why did life have to be like this? nothing but eternal suffering could only be felt. hyunjin had been in extreme darkness through his whole life, the only person that brought him light was no one other than changbin himself.

mr. hwang widened his eyes at the sudden exposure of his son's feelings and said nothing but continued to stare at him, unable to process what just happened.

'so this was how he felt huh?' he thought inside his head and finally looked at him with a complete different expression hyunjin didn't find himself seeing before.

the young boy was slightly taken aback at the sudden change and slowly dropped his jaw in surprise, his eyes were now shaking as he looked at his father.

his own father dropped to the floor, kneeling down. "i-i'm terribly sorry... i didn't know this was how you felt, please... forgive me... i didn't mean for this to happen, i really do want you to live a normal life and be happy but i can't right now... can you at least wait a little longer for me? i promise i can make everything right, please..."

hyunjin couldn't find the perfect words to say how he felt right now, all he could do was hopelessly stand there speechless, no words coming out from his mouth. what was he meant to do in situation like this?

he didn't know however, he just couldn't help but think to himself. is it really worth forgiving his own father right now and forget everything that has happened to them? or should he just wait until what he thinks is the right time?

whatever happens lays ahead of them next was completely up to the younger himself. and hyunjin, being the indecisive and hopeless person he is, had no idea what to do; his mind was entirely blank.

turning around to avoid seeing his desperate father, his lips began to tremble. even though his father had done so many unforgivable things in the past, it didn't mean he would completely dismiss all of his determined attempts.

because the person he is, would never coldly turn his back against his despairing father. he was too soft and innocent to do that yet alone would he stand leaving such a hopeless person alone as much as he was suffering himself - he never wanted to leave anyone alone to suffer like what he was dealing with right now.

that thought alone caused him to deeply sigh. what could be the appropriate choice to do at this very moment?

there was a moment of silence between the two as no one spoke. that was until hyunjin finally spoke, making his father look up to give his son one last sorrowful gaze.

"i need more time." was the last thing he said without any glance before walking away.
