Crust Summers saw Hazel Winters
at the library
the monster she had become,
going against his compliments
and becoming the opposite of what
he'd say,
but he only assumed it was a
w o m e n l y thing.
She was reading
How To Kill a Mockingbird
and she never looked so beautiful
so he grasped her cold cheeks
and kissed her.
He said,
"Your hair is beautiful at it's length."
