Alam naman natin na tuwing first day of school, laging may introduce-yourself na paganap ang mga teacher natin. It is a way for them to at least recognize some funny clowns among the class or send a friend request to a handsome student as if the teacher wants to get terminated for it.
"Hi, I-I'm... I'm... Jared Gasson.. Ahmm. Ahmm." Fvck. Bakit ang hina ko sa oral English? I mean, I can write you an essay about how did Mocha Uson transfer "Bulkang Mayon" to Naga City. "S-seventeen. And uhm," nakatingin 'yung buong klase sa'kin ng taimtim, "I'm not straight."
Nanginginig ang mga kamay ko sa strap ng bag ko. Yes, I'm late. And it's always been like that simula nang inilipat ako ng school ng parents ko.
I can see some violent reactions from the class na parang hindi sila makapaniwala sa sinabi ko.
The teacher interrupted the uproar and asked me, "Have you fallen in love with a guy before?"
My eyes waver to his question. I cannot answer quickly and my hands shake stronger.
I slowly gathered the courage to look at his eyes hanggang sa nagawa ko nang tumingin ng diretso sa mata niya at sumagot. "N-no."
Tumango-tango siya as if assessing my answers.
"Straight guy, bisexual or gay?"
Naguluhan ako sa tanong niya. Napakunot ang noo ko, at tumingin sa kaniya na nakasalubong ang kilay.
"What do you mean, sir?"
"Saan ka attracted??"
"Straight guys." Matipid at mabilis kong sagot.
I finally look at my classmates and straight guys seem to back off a little bit.
Kaya napatungo ako sa pagkapahiya. Now, I cannot bear to stand here in front being interrogated like I'm a criminal.
"Oh." Reaksyon niya.
As how much it feels so uneasy sa harap, ganoon din ang minamanifest ng paa ko. Parang hindi ako mapakaling kiti-kiti.
Hindi ko na talaga kayang tumayo pa rito sa harapan. So before the teacher even tells me to go straight to my seat, I found the courage to do so.
And he asked me a question that literally stopped my footsteps. "Did you have sex with an alpha male?"
