The Avengers stood on the landing pad of Avengers tower, waiting for Cade to exit. They all knew he had left on some personal mission, but they didn't know where or what it was. When the ramp lowered, Cade walked down, his armor having dark violet highlights and a matching scarf in place of his normal black one. Cade stood at attention off to the side as the Lotus walked down, a faint pale light radiating of her.
The Lotus nodded at the Avengers. "My Tenno has told me much about all of you. I am the Lotus, the leader and caretaker of the Tenno. What can I do to show my goodwill?" The Lotus asked.
Bruce Banner, the human half of the Hulk, coughed. "Cade's already shown us that you're on our side, but we won't turn down help," Bruce said as they walked inside and Tony pulled up a map on a holo-table.
Tony tapped a pad on the screen and a dozen red "X" appeared on the map and stated the mission. "These were bases owned by Hydra, a militant cult from the Second World War. Recently, they emerged and had the makings of taking over the government, but we ruined their plan and they ran back to their strongholds. The last major one is here in Sokovia. Also, Hydra appears to have a Tenno data core. What we need is Cade to help us knock this one out. Now, we need to be there by about...five tomorrow morning, in Sokovia time, so about two hours we need to leave."
-----------------------------------------------
Deep in Sokovia in Northern Europe, the last stronghold of Hydra reinforced its defenses as the Avengers attacked the castle. The Hulk ran through the forests on a rampage, destroying everything in his way. Tony and Cade were air support as the rest of the team were engaging on foot. As Tony flew towards the castle, he hit a force field.
"Shit!" He shouted as he ricocheted off the barrier.
"Language!" Steve shouted as he threw his shield at a Hydra soldier.
Cade hovered at the base of the field, looking for a shield generator. Seeing a weak point in the field, he struck it with his Gram heavy blade, weakening the field to the point where he could walk through. He paused as Ordis chimed. "Ordis, what is it? Hostiles?" He asked as he exited Umbra, who went down another hallway and started a fight with the soldiers in the sub-basement.
"No, Operator. I am detecting an artificial intelligence or two nearby. Or rather fragments of them. The signatures appear to have been of Orokin in origin. If you can get the fragments, I can piece them together via the Cephalon Weave. I've marked it on your HUD," Ordis said as Cade walked through the dark halls till he reached a white data core that appeared to have the Tenno's Emblem on it. Typing in his passcode, the core hummed to life as he began typing, looking for anything that stood out. With his back turned, he was unaware of a young woman walking up behind him. As she held her hand out, red energy flowed towards him. Cade turned around with his eyes glowing amethyst purple as he grabbed her wrist. Over the years, his abilities expanded, including his ability to be a contact telepath and the ability to sense mental manipulation in his mind. If this girl wanted to play tricks, he had some of his own. He decided on the last full memory Umbra had of his old life.
As Umbra laid in his medical bed, the traitor Ballas shook his head. Ballas' eyes glowed amber. "Don't worry old friend. I'm not going to kill your boy. You are," Ballas said as Umbra completed his painful transformation into Excalibur Umbra and turned to his shocked son. Umbra leaped at his son and ripped him to shreds as blood coated the room.
Cade let the girl go as she was grabbed by a flash of light as she dissapeared. Cade went back to his task as he unlocked the data core. Ordis went to work as Cade saw Umbra walk back, wiping blood from his Skiajati. "Operator, as soon as this mission is over, we need to take this data core. I can't be certain till I actually access the system, but I see the patterns for two high-leveled Cephalons. The knowledge they could tell us," Ordis said as Cade re-entered Umbra and picked up the data core and left the castle as he saw Thor and Steve supporting a wounded Clint back to the jumpship. Cade sat on the craft as it took off for Avenger's Tower.
As Cade opened the core and hooked it up to his Orbiter's computer, Ordis downloaded the Cephalons' core programming and went to work piecing them together. "Operator, the Cephalons are more vital and intricate than I first predicted. Operator, I've re-compartmentalized data to allow their existence till suitable sentinel hosts can be assembled. I localized the signatures of Cephalon Simaris and Cephalon Suda. I am bringing their programs online now," Ordis said as the two Cephalons came online.
Simaris was the first to respond. "Hunter, I...where is my Sanctuary? I have no access to the specimens I had collected. And I feel...restricted," Simaris said.
Suda responded, happier due to her programming and difference of information she collected. "Simaris, we are no longer in our own universe, but a parallel one, filled with new life and knowledge for us to learn and take home," Suda said.
Cade started foundry construction for the Cephalons' sentinels. "Simaris, I'm making you a sentinel like a Helios model. You can scan to your heart's content. And Suda, I am making a custom sentinel with a built in Mandacord, like the one from the Octavia Warframe. To keep your study of music in a good pace. In the meantime, I have work to do."
