Every Cartoon has to start somewhere, thats what a Pilot is for.
Usually used to describe the entirety of the show itself.
But some shows, sadly they don't go beyond that First Episode.
That's what We're Talking about today.
I honestly thought this Book was Dead.
Hey I've been Busy with other things Underline Word Dude!
Anyway Here are My Picks for the Top 5 Rejected Cartoon Pilots.
5) Grandpa and Julie Shark Hunters:
Produced by Klasky-Csupo, the team behind Rugrats, comes a pilot based on a series of comic strips from Nickelodeon Magazine created by Jef Czekaj.
Grandpa and Julie Shark Hunters is Mostly Self Explanatory, even though ironically they don't actually hunt in sport, they just search for sharks, as they have a pet shark named Steven.
The Pilot was rejected Due to the Fact it was based on a somewhat niche comic in Nickelodeon Magazine.
Also, I'm not making this up, this for some reason has no IMDB page so i can't really identify most of the voice cast, with the exception of Julie, who's Voice was provided by Hynden Walch, best known for Voicing Princess Bubblegum on Adventure Time and Starfire on Teen Titans and Teen Titans GO!
4) AJ's Infinite Summer:
Created by Toby Jones, a Former Storyboard Artist on Regular Show.
The Pilot was in a way an aged-up version of Phineas and Ferb, mostly because it was about high school students, more specially AJ and his two friends Danny and Morgan, who are dating BTW. But it's mostly AJ's story as he tries a new thing every day.
It was rejected due to, "Long Live the Royals," getting Picked up in it's place.
Does anyone even remember that?
I don't think so.
In My Opinion, this should have been picked up, but not on Cartoon Network like it was meant to be.
I honestly believed it could have worked on something like Netflix or Some other Streaming Service, because I can't see this being appealing to kids as the main characters are teenagers.
3) Sailor Moon USA:
I am not making this up, at one point in the 90's some executive thought it would have been a good idea to make an americanized version of the popular Anime Sailor Moon. By Mixing Live Action and Animation.......for some reason.
Nothing much about this came up with the exception of this Intro which was also used to sell the program to television networks. It didn't get picked up obviously.
