We saddled up our horses as we were suddenly sent to seek out an old Commander of the Scouts. Keith Shadis. Eren suddenly said that he had to see him as he had something to do with Grisha. I was curious about it too so the whole squad went.
"Shadis was the twelve Commander of the Scout regiment, and Commander Erwin's predecessor. It's been a long while since I've seen him." Hange explained, as we were arriving.
We went to the courtyard and saw him standing by a pile of hay. We approached him and he turned to look at us. It was almost like he was expecting us.
"Commandant Shadis." Eren called out.

We all went inside and sat at a table. Sasha however chose to stand, looking rather nervous in fact.
"What's the matter Braus? Not gonna sit?" Shadis asked.
"No! I'm quite fine standing her, sir!" She stuttered, with sweat running down her face.
"Let's see. If I recall, I used to call you in here a lot, when I was about to chew you out. It's only been a handful of months, and yet I barely recognize you." Shadis spoke.
"So, Commander Shadis, or wait, Commandant now. We should be prepping to recapture wall Maria. But, tell me; why do you suppose we came to speak with you instead?" Hange asked.
Shadis turned to look at Eren.
"Eren, you look like your mother in almost every way. However, the daggers I see within your eyes, those are your father's." Shadis spoke.
Eren clenched his jaw and decided to speak up. He stood up from his chair.
"Tell me about him. Tell me everything you know!" Eren demanded.
"I don't know much at all, not in the grand scheme of things. With that said, I'll tell you a story that's of no value whatsoever to humanity. The story of my past as nothing but a bystander." Shadis explained.
He then turned his gaze to me and his eyes widened a little.
"Doctor Zaki's daughter, right? You really have grown." He pointed out.
"Sohma is actually my uncle. Grisha is my real father, and that means Eren is my younger brother. I'm also interested to know how you know him." I explained.
"You really don't remember? I've known you since you were a little girl. Grisha and Sohma used to discuss business in the pubs. They had no problem with you beside them." Shadis mentioned.
"I don't remember a lot from back then, so just explain the story." I requested.
"Twenty years ago near wall Maria, I found him standing outside of the gate to Shiganshina. He said he couldn't remember why he was outside the walls. All of his memories had been lost, everything aside from his name. Grisha Yeager."
"He truly appeared to know nothing at all. Not about this world; not about anything. It wasn't long after that I met Sohma Zaki. He was a Doctor who worked underground. He was a mysterious person too. He didn't say much about himself, other than the fact that he had a daughter. I knew deep down that Sohma and Grisha knew each other better than I thought." Shadis explained.
"They both worked as Doctors in Eldia, however they weren't close at the time." I mentioned.
"I see. Grisha was very fascinated with the Scouts and spoke of them like they were chosen ones. I was a chosen one, that was the first time anyone had told me that. But I knew that those walls were far too cramped for me. Every expedition failed through that time. If only I was Commander, I could show results. I thought that I could accomplish so much more than those idiots could understand. And then everyone would have to acknowledge me."
